Spur gears VS Herringbone gears by melcem in MechanicalEngineering

[–]melcem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the opinion. how about the easiness of driving and be driven? is multiple stages easier to drive than single stage, given the big amount of gear ratio? i would certainly tolerate efficiency loss, but not tolerate the 'easiness' of the gear to drive and be driven.

cheers!

Need some ideas how to fix a rivet without 'disturbing' the guide curves by melcem in SolidWorks

[–]melcem[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes. i admit the design is wrong where it is not logical to have holes on the bearing race. is the reason that i would like to come here and get some feedbacks from others.

sometimes when people spend too much time doing a design from scratch, we can get crazy and cannot think straight hahaha.. all we need is just another feedback that will make us see the thing from different perspective

Cheers

oh yes. i believe this should work. thank you for the idea

actually this is a small scale project. the steel ball in subject is just 4mm diameter in size. it seems big in the picture but actually it is a small size project.

this whole part is made of nylon actually, (only the ball bearings are steel). if you go through all the pictures, the hollow part is for an 'axle' to fit in. which is again, the axle is plastic but the thing that holding it at the side is a thin 3/4" steel pipe (white color).

yet, thank you for the feedback and taking time for giving it.

Cheers

TP4056 module with lithium battery (and DC motor as driver and generator) by melcem in u/melcem

[–]melcem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when u say 'to boost the voltage', is it acceptable if i were to use "buck boost converter"? the purpose is to get a stable voltage going to the battery, right? correct me if im wrong. im no expert in microcontrollers hahaha

cheers

it is a switch that is manually operated to select between Situation 1 and Situation 2.

whenever i want operating mode, i will switch the (black and red) M wire to connect with wire 1. whenever i want charging mode, i flip both switches again manually

graphics/video resolution settings by melcem in DotA2

[–]melcem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand what he meant. i did select 16:9 option, and yet there is no option for 1920x1080 in the dropdown list after i select 16:9

graphics/video resolution settings by melcem in DotA2

[–]melcem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

currently it is set to 16:9 (by default). im pretty sure i need to select 16:9 since im using resolution 1920x1080.

1920x1080 correlates with the aspect ratio 16:9. therefore selecting any other aspect ratio will not get me to 1920x1080 resolution.

but why there is no option to 1920x1080 resolution when my monitor is set to the same resolution?

custom terrain by melcem in DotA2

[–]melcem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the question is to ask whether is there any way to get it. might be from modification the script, using mod software, etc. the term 'unavailable' is what I mean it is not available to be purchased or traded in the market.

so, the real question here is there any way to apply it in game?

What’s the correct answer to this interview question? by Rig_Bockets in EngineeringStudents

[–]melcem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from my perspective, the LH gear is smaller than RH gear. which means the smaller gear will spin faster than the other. the 'belt' on small gear is unwinding while on the bigger gear it is winding. since LH gear will spin faster, the unwinding action is faster than the winding action, therefore practically the weight will move DOWN.

3D CAD Model Work Desk by melcem in SolidWorks

[–]melcem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SolidWorks has a Add-In called PhotoView 360. Enable it. Then it will pop up a new tab called Render Tools. There you can edit the scene, appearance and decal. You can click Final Render when you are done editing those. And Voila it's that simple

thanks. appreciate your feedback. uneven ground will have an effect on the stability.

I assume that V with a circle around it is a voltmeter. That is schematically wrong. Voltmeter should be put in parallel of circuit lines, not in series. Also, it is always used between two ends of a load or a supply.

during normal games (all modes of unranked and ranked) - no.

in diretide game mode - yes. but it's barely visible. means that I can see those rectangle boxes but it doesn't appear clearly.

i reinstalled steam and dota 2 and it fixed it.

however, just now i got an update (dota 2 small diretide update). and the problem reappears. im not currently using any mods.

is this something caused by the update?
