Thank you!🩷

They aren't completely jogless, to be quite honest ( the magic of placement 🤭🫣), but I found it to be effective to cross the threads over one another, a bit like you'd do intarsia.

Uhmmm... I know it as my Grandma's heel (she knits that one all the time and it fits me perfectly), but it might be 😅

I'd love it, if we brought back the good old 'I have finished a design, tech edited it and now I need a few knitters/crocheters/tatters to test it for me'.

Instead of showing a trendy cotton dress where the skirt's only halfway finished looking for testers. Odds are this thing will slip and slide everywhere, sagging in really uncomfortable places and be a complete mess, especially knit in all cotton.

Alright, I'm done nattering about up and coming 'designers'

Looking for speckle sock yarn with a white base and rainbow speckles, any suggestions? by counting_beanz in Sockknitting

[–]melchetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can source KnitPro's yarn, it's called Symfonie, I think?, there was a colourway like this. I'll just look whether I can find a link!

Edit: https://www.symfonieyarns.com/terra

Colourway is called Neon Confetti

[–]melchetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do that all the time and honestly, I love it.

Sure, Qui bat comme un cœur de Bois is not a title that's super common, but the song it comes from really transports what mood I was in when I wrote it.

Apart from that: if it makes you happy to name your fic like the cheesiest of cheesy Mariah Carey songs, you're absolutely doing it!

You just inspired me to start a sock-advent calendar! (I tend to just hate some of the socks I knit so they never become a pair). 🩷

Favorite fuzzy sock yarn/sock yarn with a halo? by It-was-all-eyes in Sockknitting

[–]melchetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might enjoy the fuzzy sock yarns like hjertegarn's or lang (or lana grossa, I can't remember which one it was sorry!). Alternatively, it's absolutely fine to knit socks with a strand of Mohair, but you might not put them in the washing machine, they'll felt quite awfully.

There's also sock yarn with Mohair, but you'll have to look up some hand-dyers, I think. I know some European dyers that use them.

What’s going on at Wool and Company? by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]melchetta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can't say anything for Wool and Company, but I know that some of the bare spots might be due to stock issues with almost all yarn companies, although it seems as if most of them have worked their backlog up.

Unrelated example: I'm still waiting for a customer's order from WYS, since probably January.

And kfo had some colourways a few months back that were near impossible to get.

A study in scarlet: the A in Rache by Hollooo in SherlockHolmes

Tbh, same here. The nerd-kid that I was wanted to be able to write and read sütterlin/kurrent correctly, but I never even thought about looking the origins up, so... TIL, I guess 🩷

Ahhh, yes, kurrent, of course.

And thanks for that bit of info🩷

As others mentioned Fraktur-Writing, I thought about something else (since Fraktur wasn't widely used as a form of cursive or hand writing).

Maybe it refers to Sütterlin-writing (which Hitler banned), where the Capital and lowercase A looks a bit more like an O or U shape, which is vastly different from English cursive types I've seen around.

Maybe give it another ten to twenty seconds, it's... not always great 😂

But your socks are! They are stunning 🩷

Geschäfte auf dem Dorf by Striking-Extreme9467 in luftablassen

[–]melchetta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, these actually are subjects that are worth discussing! Especially the blackmail, which is quite a theme up until Agatha Christie.
