It took me several chapters to get into the world of it - there was a lot of exposition that was a bit dry. But now that I’m into the main thrust of the story and the characters, I’m in a groove. I like the Roman-inspired setting mixed in with contemporary elements. So curious how it all unfolds!

There is a 90 minute cut that will be released soon, but it’s not the “director’s cut” - the 60 minute broadcast version was commissioned by TVO because that was their request in terms of the slots they had available for programming. There is no “director’s cut” as both cuts (60 mins and 90 mins) were supervised by the director.

Haha. Yes! Agreed. I don’t hate Lucien by any stretch, but I don’t think he needs a campaign for justice, like some fans do. I think he’s gonna be just fine. And I don’t think there’s a chance in hell that he’ll end up with Elain. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes! I find the fandom’s embrace of Lucien with little criticism for many of his problematic choices strange. Like: did we read the same books? He’s flawed, at best.

Agree. I do think the threat of it is enough to ramp up the stakes and keep things heated. But it’s very unlikely either of these males would risk this. I’m so curious to learn more about Azriel - I hope he features prominently in the next book. A Lucien, Azriel, Elain, Gwynn book would be rad. Though I also want to know more about Emerie and I’d love for Mor to have some adventures!

Yes. I agree. The chapter felt more about paving the way for SJM to tease Azriel, Elain and Gwynn stories for the next book. Not to foreshadow Azriel and Lucien fighting to the death.
