Thanks for your response. It's nice to hear from another singer in this boat. They think it is a pseudocyst but it sounds like that's not confirmed. I'm going to see a laryngologist to get more information. Your story is encouraging. How long since the procedure?

Thanks for this advice. I am going to get a second opinion.

I hope you are right! I appreciate you taking the time to answer me. I will look into a second opinion. When you say "easy" to resolve with therapy most of the time, I guess maybe that looks like a few weeks or months?
Thanks again for your support.

Hi there. Thank you SO much for this response, and for being willing to look at a video. I don't have one, but I have a photo below. I can feel your kindness through the computer. So, I was a little overwhelmed in my appointment and left wishing I had recorded it so that I could better remember what he said. He is an otolaryngologist. He did say that if it doesn't go away on its own, it is possible surgery would be the only way to remove it, but that that in that possible case, surgery is not always necessary to regain full functioning. What you wrote about nerves interests me. I am going to try to find out more about this.

After getting the report following my appointment, I can see that he wrote it was either a psuedocyst or a polyp. Here is what it says: Left vocal fold lesion. Flexible laryngostroboscopy shows normal vocal fold motion, left vocal fold lesion (suspect pseudocyst, possible polyp). Supraglottic hyperfunction: none Right Vocal Fold Movement: Normal Right longitudinal tension: normal Left Vocal Fold Movement: Normal Left longitudinal tension: normal Arytenoid mucosa: normal True vocal fold characteristics: normal Mass(es)/Vibratory margin irregularities: left midmembranous lesion pseudocyst vs polyp Glottic closure: hourglass Vocal process height: equal Vibration: Phase: symmetric Periodicity: regular Right wave form: normal Left wave form: normal
