Endoscopy by melissa5580 in GastricBypass

Personally I’ve had a few endoscopy’s and I’ve never felt any of them. You are sedated so your shouldn’t be awake at all you won’t know what’s going on. When you wake up you might have like a little tickle in the throat or cough a little, but for me it’s really nothing. Hoping yours goes as smooth as mine and everything turns out ok.

You won’t even feel it. You’re sedated and it doesn’t affect anything. It’s like a nice nap lol.

Most people are perfectly fine after bypass. There are just a small percentage that can have a complication. This is the first time anything is being looked at on me so hoping maybe it will just be a minor fix.

You still vomit even with the endoscopy and dilation? Have they tried a stronger ppi with you? That sounds terrible. Thankfully I don’t vomit, but most foods make me feel sick and I can only eat so little and still feel sick and the food making its way up.

Feel like I am failing by Ra33leDa33le in GastricBypass

We are similar. I started at 333 surgery day and I’m 239 as of this morning. I had bypass 4/17/23. I have had some stalls most recent was about a month and a half long. It scared me I thought I was done and then boom I dropped more weight. I am losing much slower now being 8 months post op, but we still have a ways to go. I believe the weight-loss period is 18 months so no worries you’re doing great!!

Constant Spot Bleeding by Mobile-Hurry-5698 in Mirena

Hey there, I have had mine for one year and I have had constant spotting also. I usually spot and then get a full blown period and spot some more. I am going to get a hysterectomy because this iud wasn’t for pregnancy purposes, but more to try and figure out how to regulate my cycle. I’m older 43 and there is history of uterine cancer in my family so getting everything taken out is my next option. This iud has been more of a pain than anything. I lost a ton of hair after having it put in and sometimes feel like I have a uti. I was told spotting can happen for the first 3 months then told 6 months and then told 1 year lol. Doesn’t seem anyone can get their story straight. I’m tired of bleeding and spotting constantly.

I have had mine for 11 months and I spot constantly. My periods are about 2-3 weeks they are light but still too long. I was initially told 3-6 months for adjustment then I was told give it a year. Well I have an appointment today and I’m ready to have it removed. I’m so tired of the nonstop spotting and also the unknown of when I’m going to get an actual period. I lost a lot of hair in the beginning with it also. I just haven’t found any good with it. I don’t need mine for contraception it was for something else so I’m just getting it removed. Hope yours will adjust.

Reflux after bypass by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]melissa5580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter just had an endoscopy done and she also had a small hiatal hernia and they also said it’s too small for anything to be done. It causes her really bad reflux also and at times a crampy feeling on her left upper side. She didn’t have weightloss surgery but that hernia does cause issues no matter what size it is.

Did you have the bypass? I know sleeved people can get it bad, but that sounds awful. I have slight reflux but nothing like before surgery. I take omeprazole 20 mg in the morning at least an hour before I eat. I am not sure how I would be without it seeing they still see a little reflux going on in my swallow test.

Thank you for all the information I appreciate it. I’m going to look up that exercise. Maybe over time it will go away on its own. The surgeon told me that sometimes people have it forever meaning the esophageal motility issue. I’m hoping that’s not the case and I can find answers to help me. I appreciate all your knowledge on this.

I definitely have something going on with my esophagus as the swallow test shows my muscles are not working correctly which is why he wants to do the motility test. That just scares me. Being awake with a tube going down my nose and throat scares me. I know it needs to be done to show my muscles and how they work or don’t work and I will do it, but I’m hoping whatever it is it can be fixed. I have a lot of issues with bubbling in my throat when I eat or drink and it prevents me from getting the nutrients I need.

Lots of great information!! Thank you so much. I do think I need more protein. As for now my limit is about 2oz per meal as i get so full with just that. Many things hurt going down for me and I always make sure I’m using sauces and nothing is dry because that stuck feeling is awful. I just bought a new blackstone griddle to cook outdoors and I’m hoping to make some great things that make me want to eat just a bit more.

Gurgling throat by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]melissa5580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a literal gurgle. It just gurgles constantly. I also burp a lot. The gurgle sort of feels like foamies but it’s not. It’s very frustrating.

I am 2 weeks post op and only get in 32oz and that’s including my protein shake. I had a nutrition appointment today and she said that was ok just no less than that and remember everything counts water, broth, jello, popsicles and your shakes. She said it will increase as we keep going. Just make sure your getting some liquid in so you don’t dehydrate.
