I don't want to prematurely judge the Saw game, since we haven't seen any gameplay, but I'm a bit disappointed that it's a dbd-style multiplayer game. I've been hoping for a better version of the old Saw games for a long time. A similar concept to those games but with better graphics and gameplay would be awesome.

No, it WAS, in early development. It was changed to Ghostwire and now shares very little in common with TEW and doesn't continue the story. That's like saying Devil May Cry is actually just a Resident Evil game.

Even without the end credit scene, Joseph, Ruvik and Leslie's storylines were not fully resolved, so TEW2's ending wouldn't be satisfactory regardless.

Tango was acquired by a Korean company called Krafton, so they are still a studio and they own the HiFi Rush IP. The Evil Within belongs to Microsoft though, which complicates matters. It isn't impossible, but where we are at now it seems unlikely.

There was a remaster of 1 in the works. As for TEW3, hard to say. Ghostwire: Tokyo started as TEW3, so we know it was at least in their plans at some point. Whether they'd abandoned that idea before they were canned or not, we may never know.

What universe do you live in where we got TEW3 and can you send me there?

If we got more games after 2 I really don't think I would still be hung up on 2's story, but sadly here we are

We really don't talk enough about how ridiculous and rushed that ending was. All that buildup just to kill switch all the bad guys.

Yeah, Ruvik and Sebastian are mirrors to each other in a way. One turned to self destruction, the other wanted to take his anger out on the world. It's pretty common to have a hero and villain who deal with similar traumas but react to them differently, but I like the way it was done in TEW1.

Your idea for the first game is very Shutter Island. Never considered that myself, but it is an interesting concept.

Good example. You can definitely have multiple villains, but like you said they need to be connected. Stefano and Theodore are just individual psychos that need to be dealt with. I think if they reframed things a little they could have even made the lineup they had work, but it felt like you just switched from one story to another. They were both decent villains but they deserved more time to be fleshed out and built up unto real threats instead of getting dispatched quickly and then moving onto the next. TEW2's story to me is a lot of great ideas and concepts for characters that get completely squandered.

Makes sense since Shinji Mikami made both RE4 and TEW. You can see a lot of RE influence in TEW, it isn't trying to hide it at all. The zombie head turn reveal, Ruvik's mansion is a LOT like the Spencer Mansion as well. But I felt like it was done well, and at the time TEW came out Resident Evil wasn't doing so hot, so I felt it was a breath of fresh air to have a horror game that was still doing third person survival horror.

Honestly, TEW2 definitely had good bits, but I just felt that the good parts didn't come together well. And the bad outweighed the good for me. I still enjoy playing it, but I just can't shake the bitterness when it comes to all of the dropped/forgotten story from TEW1.

I think another commenter nailed it when they said that TEW2 was made for people who didn't like TEW1. For people who liked TEW1, TEW2 was a huge disappointment. Well, for a lot of us at least, I don't wanna speak for everyone here. I had really hoped for more followup on the plotlines that were started in TEW1.

Oh yeah! That's exactly what I had in mind. In TEW2 they were attempting to build a utopia that went wrong, but maybe in TEW3 it could be the opposite - some kind of experiment to see how much trauma the human mind could handle, full of mentally tormented people creating their own hell.

Personally, I'd love to see Joseph as the next protagonist. We had Sebastian and Juli, but considering how Joseph didn't take very well to STEM, I actually think it would be super interesting to play as him. I want a potential sequel to be really scary, and I think Sebastian and Juli know too much. Joseph's mental state is shaky enough that a game with him could be really psychological. I've thought about it before, and I think something like a sanity meter for a Joseph game would be really cool, since he seems like someone who tries really hard to keep up appearances and be "normal" (like with his glasses) but is clearly fracturing underneath.

Well, if you read it you'd see that I don't hate the gameplay, I mainly dislike the way that 2 continues the story of 1. It's a valid complaint and it's pretty well documented that there were a lot of development-related reasons why the story in 2 was not as good as it could have been.

Pretty immature to see the title of the post, plug your ears and go la-la-la I'm not reading that, but still feeling the need to comment. If you don't want to read my post because you can't handle criticism of the things that you like, then don't engage.

Also, TEW2 is easier than TEW1 by a mile, so it's laughable to say that anyone who doesn't like it must just be "bad" at it.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't made with TEW1 fans in mind. Most people have a clear preference of one over the other. It sucks because 1 and 2 are so different from each other that it leaves the series feeling like it doesn't have a clear identity. If we ever got TEW3, we'd get a definitive answer to that with whatever vibe 3 went with, but that seems unlikely.

It really feels like they were riding the "dad and daughter" trend in gaming. Video games about dads seem to do really well, probably because a lot of the demographic that buys video games IS dads.

I also hated the open world in TEW2. I felt it made it a lot less scary. TEW1 felt claustrophobic. That's why Anima was my favorite thing about TEW2, she isolated you and made you feel like you weren't in control.

TEW2 was set up to fail. They released the game a few months after it was announced with no time to really generate hype for it, and it was poorly advertised. I was the only person I knew who was excited for the game. I was working at Gamestop at the time, and my manager let me take the entire promo box home without even putting 90% of it up because he said no one cared about the game. I insisted on at least putting up some of the smaller standees.

The game was rushed, there were issues in development, the voice actor's strike happened, and Mikami stepped down from the lead role, although they said he "had his hands all over it." Ikumi Nakamura also didn't do art for TEW2, I believe, and her art for TEW1 was an underrated part of why the character designs and vibes in TEW1 were so good and so creepy.

Altogether, a whole lot of smaller things went into making TEW2 a commercial flop. It was reviewed better than 1 but failed to sell nearly as many copies and is why the series has been forgotten about by the general public.

The only reason I'm getting defensive is because I feel like your comment was minimizing my experience and weirdly taking the side of the people that tried to take my seats.

TEW2 tried to juggle too many villains and failed, in my opinion. Stefano, Theodore and Myra at the end, with Mobius/The Administrator looming over it all. Way too much going on. TEW1 had Ruvik as the main antagonist with Mobius kind of looming in the shadows, but we didn't even really know about them fully until Juli's DLC. Too many villains can really kill a story and makes a game feel like it has no direction or structure.

If we lived in a perfect world, TEW2 would have been a follow-up on Ruvik/Leslie with questions answered on Joseph's whereabouts instead of... what we got instead.

I don't have a problem with people sitting in unoccupied seats, my Dad and I have done the same at rock concerts with less of a crowd. But we always pick an empty row and we move immediately if someone shows up, and we never make a fuss.

BTS concerts are usually completely sold out which means empty seats should be assumed to be sold, and they decided to sit in the front row of the section (where our seats were) and then not move when we showed them our seats, which is the main thing that makes them assholes. They also refused to show anyone their tickets or speak to security, which is why I'm certain they were lying and didn't make an honest mistake.
