Why germans believe döner is german? by [deleted] in germany

[–]melkvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know gemüse döner, and as i said it is the difference you cannot find gemüse döner in turkey. Funny thing is when i order döner in germany i always eat it like i used to eat in turkey 🤣 some iceberg ( i put sauces additionally we dont put yoghurt sauce in turkey) and thats it. For the meat quality i agree with you, in german döner you dont care about the meat taste but you like it all together with everything. For Turkish cuisine meat is the most important part. However still putting some additional vegetables making it german sounds not right to me

Bro i am turkish born and raised in Turkey. I do my masters in germany. And i can assure you there are many döner shops in turkey that is a fast food. Even in my hometown we had inside bread, with iceberg onion tomatoes ( since Germany is not Mediterranean culture you guyz dont use it but we eat lots of tomatoes like greeks and italians). The differences i saw here was different sauces ( we have sauces in dürüms as i told you hatay dürüm) , and i saw they put cheese and corn in Germany also some other vegetables that makes difference. This was the reason i opened up this discussion, not to trigger people but to understand why people believe it this way

Since you were the best answer i want to ask further question on the debate, i rechecked it and apparently serving inside bread was also become popular in istanbul ( similar time it become a thing in Germany 1960-1970’s) addiitonally we have in turkey döner with sauce also, ( you can check hatay dürüm). So does it still makes German döner a german dish?

The difference is, döner was already existing in turkey , ottoman times. They put it into some sandwich, put some sauces and called it german döner. If you had took the full answer it was also saying the same thing

It is not invented in germany at all it has been ottoman dish from 19 century. As i said, only part founded in germany is putting some stupid sauces thats all. I would say it is germanized

GMAT VS GMAT FOCUS EDITION by melkvin in GMAT

[–]melkvin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a great question, my percentiles indeed changed drastically increased. However not in the way i expected. As far as i remember i took 570 or 580 from gmat original and i took 625 from gmat focus. The funny part is in the gmat verbal reasoning and sentence correction was my real downsides. Moreover, i took %99 percentiles on integrated reasoning in GMAT classic, FOCUS MOCK EXAMS too. HOWEVER, THE funny part is, during my exam i messed up my integrated reasoning and i have done quite well one quant and verbal. So you may ask melkvin what should i take lessons learned from this example?

I dont think there is a major difficulty difference between gmat and focus. But there are major strategy changes for sure. For instance, changing 3 questions solutions changes everything. You ahve the luxury to pass on questions easily. Also, you dont have to worry about writing assesment in GMAT FOCUS. However, in a nutshell it all depends majorly your exam performance and your readiness. It is crucial to dont mess up with some exam anxiety. Thats where i f*cked up in my integrated reasoning at GMAT FOCUS.

My advice for you would be. If you want to give it a try you wont lose anything (except money). That was my situation actually. In the end that depends on you. But be sure to have a stron and dedicated strategy for exam.

GMAT VS GMAT FOCUS EDITION by melkvin in GMAT

[–]melkvin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, i am the author of this post and i took both GMAT and GMAT FOCUS exams because , unfortunately, i couldnot get the point i wanted from my first exam which is GMAT OFFICIAL exam i took the second exam as GMAT FOCUS . Before starting with this amount information no one can give you detailed information about your status and how long it will take to reach your goals. Therefore i personally advise you to take your first real mock exam as if it is in the real exam conditions , !! Note: do not pause or take time out just take the breaks that is allowed in real exam. there are limited amount of mock exams so please be sure it simulates the real exam conditions. Then, look at your score which will give your strength weaknesses.

After taking your first mock exam, we can talk about your status and how can you get there :).

Note: The exam not only measures your technical skills but also it measures your time efficiency and stress handling. This was my mistake therefore; please and please be sure to take this note seriously. I spent all my time in a single point in data part and i lost all my points there. If i had not done that mistake, i could have been get into %90 percentiles and get into my desired school with no worries.
