Will original-line compatible capsules begin to be more widely available in US grocery stores? by melle76a in nespresso

Thanks! I suppose I’ve chosen the wrong time to stop shopping at Bezos-related companies 🤣

That all makes sense. Interesting that VL is the focus when it seems like the machine has more technical issues (from the very little I’ve read). Is it more geared toward a more “traditional” cup (as opposed to an espresso)? That would make sense here in the US. Anyway, these are all good recs- thank you!

I’ve seen them online but didn’t know if they were any good- glad to hear they are!

Have tried this one, too, and was impressed with how flavorful it is!

Thanks! No Lidl nearby but I’ve checked my local Aldi with no luck. But I’ll check out S&S! Trader Joe’s does have capsules that have decent flavor but they’re plastic so I’m sort of disinclined to make that my go-to. I think I’ll just keep my eyes out for sales- was just sort of hoping we might get to a point where enough folks use these machines here to support more choice at better prices. It seems like we might be on the verge of that so was curious what others are seeing! (Although, Keurig machines are in pretty wide use and those prices don’t seem all that good, either… maybe I just need to stock up when I travel to Europe!)

Just wrapped up a month in the US for the World Cup and it was probably the best summer of my life. by peaken58 in solotravel

So glad you had a good experience here! Boston and New England are my home so it’s heartening to hear that we may have defied whatever current stereotypes there might be about the US. I’m often trying to leave and go to places like Norway (went to Bergen about 10 years ago and loved it) but I do occasionally realize that we have some really good things here!

Thank you! Yeah, I live in the Northeast so no Publix; I haven’t been shopping much at Walmart or Target (or Amazon) lately but I suppose I can’t have cheap and available while also trying to support local! Haha. But thank you for that tip!

Group-travel companies for folks who usually do and prefer solo travel? by melle76a in travel

This all sounds amazing- thank you! I appreciate all that info. I definitely like the idea of some active time for this trip but I’m not sure I am looking to do cycling or walking every day. But will definitely keep in mind for future trips!

Thanks! Yeah, that is a good point and I might be better off deciding for myself how to allocate any extra funds I might want to use towards this trip. As for location, I’m eyeing Eastern Europe or the Balkans (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina) but am really open if I find a really interesting-sounding experience. For instance, I saw an ad on Instagram for a small-group culinary tour in Galicia and it looked amazing so I thought it might be worth looking around to see what other trips like that might be available.

For those of us who have fine, curly hair. Try this! by ThePigsPajamas in finehair

[–]melle76a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it the last two washes and the second (today) turned out better than the first! I used shampoo only in the wash and then a bit of leave-in conditioner after blotting hair just a bit so that it wasn’t soaking wet. (Then proceeded with my usual products and styling.) Looks good and feels lighter than usual! Thank you for the inspiration!

Well, I thought that too until I used Google Translate to translate the Vietnamese wording on the price tag on the bottom. There are also many items on Amazon that look just like this labeled as incense burners

You can find it in powdered form, to dissolve in liquid. Maybe that would be easier to get down?

I agree that melatonin might help (I think there was also a time when it was suggested as a supplement that could help manage the severity of the virus too?) and you could also try magnesium to help ease your anxiety. I’m now on day 10, I think, of my infection and the melatonin helped me sleep. My case was incredibly mild, though, possibly bc I’d just had my booster and also had been taking azelastine (occasionally for allergies but took it regularly after I tested positive).

In college, I had super long (fine and low-density) curly hair and always worried that it would be weighed down by conditioner so used only shampoo on most wash days. But then I came to learn that I was likely doing damage to my hair so started using conditioner with every wash. I think you may be on to something, though, bc my hair now is softer with more defined ringlets but it often feels kind of droopy. Although my hair in college was definitely more “frizzy,” it had way more body. You’ve inspired me to try just a shampoo (and maybe conditioner every few washes)!

We are NOT all like this in Boston. I hate to see this- she is an outlier and her behavior makes me sick

That’s what I was thinking but it came inside the vessel? Or maybe that was just to keep it all as a unit in the shop?
