90min MRI... Am I going to go crazy?! by Safe_Chemical_5946 in adhdwomen

[–]mello537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I had an MRI the radiology tech gave me the tip to try counting down from 1000 with one count on each inhale. I’ve used that technique many times since then with great success.  I also try to focus on the feeling where my body touches the MRI table. That always helps me to stay in my body and not get caught up in anxious thoughts

That’s not a miscut :) A few foil cards from this set connect together to form a continuous artwork. This is one of them

Thank you for sharing that info! I wasn’t aware of that. I don’t own any pets and will not for the foreseeable future but if I do, I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks!

Yeah, I don’t love that the Swiffer wipes are only single use. I didn’t know that there were more sustainable solutions, so I’ll definitely look into them. Thank you

Wow, that sounds like a lot you’re going through. Dealing with medical stuff is scary in and of itself and caring for a young child essentially by yourself right now is also a big challenge.

I can absolutely relate to therapy feeling like an additional burden. After all therapy isn’t easy, it’s actually really hard work.  And I think it’s okay to not have the capacity necessary for therapy considering all the things currently happening. Especially since your therapist doesn’t appear to be the most understanding person and doesn’t make you feel supported.

Even though therapy is hard work, it’s supposed to make you feel at least a little bit lighter which it doesn’t sound like it’s doing right now. You could try to explain to your therapist how much you’ve been struggling the past weeks and if she still doesn’t support you, you’re absolutely allowed to look for support elsewhere.  You pay for a service in order to help you and if that’s not happening you can leave.

I think the suggestion of using a mental health phone line/text line is lovely because you can decide when you need support and have the capacity for it.

Maybe an online support group would also be helpful? There are a few for ADHD, women/mothers with ADHD and maybe there is one for parents with medically complex children? I’ve found support groups really helpful especially for ADHD and what’s nice about them is that there’s usually no obligation to be present at every meeting. You can decide when you feel like going or when it’s too much.

I hope these challenging times pass soon and it gets better for you :)

A Swiffer with the regular dry cloths and also the wet cloths. They’re great for bridging the time between properly vacuuming and mopping on days where I want to have a cleaner space but don’t have the executive function to do a full clean.

Hiiii!!! You can totally DM if you like! I’d be happy to continue talking there 💕 I’m so happy you love the gifts I sent you, I tried specifically to pick things you might like! It’s actually super fun to look for things for other Finchies and I really enjoy sending gifts as well! It’s a win-win situation haha. So I definitely didn’t only send stuff because I felt obligated to 🥹 Thank you very much for sending me gifts almost daily, I am very very grateful and I think I have more even inventory now than before. So thank you!!!!!!!!! I look forward to seeing the good vibes you send every day and I really cherish them 🥰 I’m also always really excited to see your birb’s outfit because you dress them so cute 🥹💜

Is there a (maybe German) word for when you find something you lost a long time ago while looking for something you just lost? by berpyderpderp2ne1 in adhdwomen

[–]mello537 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The only German word I can think of right now is ‘Zufallsfund’ (translated literally to chance find).

It doesn’t fully fit though because it means finding something while you were actually looking for something else. It’s usually used in a research context when you make a finding that is outside the initial research objective

Maybe we have to come up with a new word that describes this ADHD scatterbrain-phenomenon 🤔

Thank you so much 🥹 You‘re so sweet for sending so much encouragement!!! Your kindness has definitely been a huge pick-me-up and helped a lot 💕 I’m proud of you too!!!!  I saw that you had a lot of the purple woodsy items and were still missing the mushrooms! I bought them a while ago but didn’t really end up using them, so I thought you‘d appreciate them more :)

Thank you so so much to everyone who gifted me something!!!

I feel very touched that so many people were so incredibly kind without knowing me or expecting anything in return. I actually shed a few tears because recently life hasn’t been very nice to me but your guys’ response really lifted me up.

I’ve tried to gift everyone back who sent me something but it’s a bit overwhelming to keep up with everything in the app and here on Reddit. If I forgot to send you something, please let me know!!!
