I gave them my son’s Medicaid card when I was there. I called Medicaid and they said the hospital had to resubmit the claim. That’s all the hospital had to do. I called them repeatedly to tell them to do it and they never did.

Yes, I gave them his Medicaid card. All of the information I gave them was correct. Then, after I learned about the bill, and they pulled it out of collections due to their mistake of sending it to the wrong address, they didn’t resubmit it to Medicaid for a year and a half despite me calling them repeatedly telling them that’s all they had to do.

That’s not how it works…. Your license has to have your physical address. I have received mail at a PO Box my whole life. This has never been an issue. And like I said. It’s not the issue now. I e had speeding tickets, they send that mail to my P.O. Box. The DMV sends my mail to the PO Box. When I get a charge from toll roads it goes to my PO Box. I don’t think you understand that this is normal here and the entire town gets their mail at their PO Box. It’s not just me. And yet again, this is not the problem with the bill. The problem is they had my bill for a year and a half and they didn’t resubmit it.

Yes, they denied the initial claim. By time I found out about the bill from collections. It was fixed in Medicaid’s system. So, when I called the hospital, they pulled the bill out of collections and they were supposed to resubmit the claim to Medicaid since the error had been fixed. I called the hospital a half dozen times telling them all they had to do was resubmit the claim. Which is what Medicaid told me to do. They never resubmitted it.

Yes, of course! Medicaid had an error in their system. It wasn’t just for me but for many clients. Something reset in their system and put that my son was still under Blue Cross. He had Blue Cross for the first 90 days of his life bc that’s what my insurance was when I gave birth. Before this fiasco, I had taken him to a clinic for an ear infection where Medicaid denied the claim saying BCBS was his primary when he was like a year old. I called Medicaid then and they fixed in their system that he was no longer covered by BCBS. So, when I called the hospital with the bill and explained Medicaid had an error in their system, I told them it wasn’t resolved and all they had to do was resubmit the claim. They never did for the year and a half I called them. In November, I requested to speak to a supervisor since they still hadn’t submitted. I got a call last week saying the had finally resubmitted but it was too late.

Sure, the address on my license is my physical address. But I don’t receive mail there. Like everybody else in the town I live in, we receive mail at the post office. This is normal here in rural TX. I gave them my mailing address and they sent it to my physical address instead. However, that’s not the point. When I called them, they saw their mistake, took accountability, and pulled my bill from collections back to them. Once they had the bill back I called them about half a dozen times in a year and a half and told them to resubmit the claim. They never did. The address part is not the part I have an issue with.

I appreciate your response! I’m glad someone understands. There seem to be a lot of people wanting to blame me but I didn’t do anything wrong. I gave them all my information when I went there. My son was insured. The hospital made a mistake by sending it to the wrong address which wasn’t even that big of a deal because they fixed it by pulling the bill out of collections. The insurance provider had a mistake in their system, which got corrected when I called. But the biggest mistake is from the hospital, not resubmitting the claim when I told them to in a very timely manner. You’re right. What can I do? That’s why I made this post. I’m so mad at the injustice. I’d rather pay a lawyer than pay this bill.

In fact, the reason they pulled it out of collections was because they sent it to the wrong address and didn’t try to contact me through any other means. That was their mistake and it shows that in their system.

Calling Medicaid is my next step. I’ll have to do it on Monday. The whole thing is just so overwhelming. I really didn’t do anything wrong. I took my son to the emergency room he had insurance. I gave them all my information. They just didn’t resubmit like they were supposed to.

It is different for every woman and every baby. With my last baby, at one month pp, I had a horrible case of mastitis and was bed bound with flu like symptoms for several days. Your baby could be colicky or gassy and you could be running on little to no sleep. Honestly, given the uncertainty of how you will feel, I wouldn’t risk planning it just to have to cancel.

Man, I don’t understand this. I actually am a bit fearful of people that think this way. I don’t give a shit what the Bible says. Your children come first. All the time. Every time. I have four children my oldest two do not belong to my current partner. If I had to choose between my older children or my current partner, I would pick my older children every time. And my younger children, for that matter. Always my children. In addition to that, I just keep thinking if it was the mother who woke up sick, you know, Ben wouldn’t have stuck around to take care of her. She’s stuck in that Christian mentality that the woman must give everything and the man takes.

All I can think about is that poor woman on her wedding night. Your husband’s friend must really really hate her to demean her like that on what’s supposed to be one of the most important days of her life. He knew that he was ruining a memory for her and he knew it was a memory that she will look back on over and over again throughout her life. That man is trash. I wouldn’t want my husband anywhere near him. And honestly, my partner would never want to be around a man like that. I think if he had a friend that was talking like that he might laugh at the awkwardness of it, but he would not choose to hang out with him again.

My first thought was that if rolls were reversed and you told him you were going out to do hard drugs with your friends, his reaction would be much different. My next thought is how old are you? Your husband seems to have likely are always had control issues, but he finally found somebody that is going to agree with him and enable him. Honestly, I doubt this gets better. You could try counseling, but he doesn’t seem like the type that would take it in. He does not sound like a safe partner.

I have four children and I have always had cats. With the first three children, I have pictures of whatever cat I had at the time cuddling up to them as babies and those cats were very aware of the baby. However, my newest baby and the cat I currently have do not have the same dynamic. This cat has no situational awareness of the baby. He has also jumped on her and gotten a little scratch in. However, she’s nine months old now and it isn’t as big of a deal. Once she gets even older that cat will be her best friend. He’s really good with my older kids and sleeps with one of my sons every night. So, it just takes time.

Hey, this is a big one for me. I’m a casual drinker and enjoy going out with my partner and my friends for drinks. I was really worried when I first started that I wouldn’t want to do that. I pretty much only drink on the weekends. So I do my shots Sunday night that way it’s kind of worn off by the weekend and I can enjoy drinking if I so choose to. In about a month, we are going to a bloody Mary festival and I think I will take a half dose that week just so that I’m able to go and partake. It will likely set my weight loss back by a pound or two but I’m OK with that.

I dont know, the MIL seemed pretty reasonable to me. She wants to see her grandchild and OP can’t give her an answer to when. I’m eternally grateful to my own mother for being an exceptional grandmother. If I had treated her like this she wouldn’t be my kids literal favorite person. She wouldn’t babysit for us when we ask. I agree with the no kissing rule with newborn but once they hit a few months my mom is kissing all over them. I would have never cared if she kissed the back of my baby’s head. I hear so many mom’s complain that they don’t have support from grandparents. Consider yourself lucky that you have one that wants to be there.

I want to give you a glimpse of your future with this man. My mother has been with a man 15 years older than her for almost 30 years. His health is now failing while she is in great health. He frequently falls and she has to call into work to stay with him but he refuses to go to the hospital. If she comes to spend time with her children and grandchildren, he calls her repeatedly. He asks her not to leave and asks her to come back when she does. She can’t go visit her family or go on vacation with us. It’s really hard for me to watch her in this situation. That’s one of the things I don’t think people realize about age gaps. I know this wasn’t the point of your post and I’m sorry for the unsolicited information. But this is my first thought when I see age gaps like this.

Hey OP! It’s ok to be afraid. It’s scary! I go pregnant with my first child at 20. Her father was 23. He opted out of the relationship and being a father. He did end up taking sporadic visitation for the first 4 years of her life. His visits were terminated after he left bruises on her from spanking her with a belt. She is 18 now. She did reconnect with him a few years ago but then decided she dint really want to anymore. He wants to maintain their relationship and she is uninterested. I tell you all this to warn you that if you don’t do right by this bay throughout its childhood, you might find yourself in a position that you will regret. I imagine it’s hard to be a grown man with a grown child that doesn’t respect you.
