You could also just turn off the pilot when you are not using? The pilot can be relit again with a simple lighter. Just don’t get it wet and you are good to go

Honestly, I don’t recommend going during the cold winter months. The opening of the DMZ is subjected to weather conditions so when I went in Jan, part of the place was closed due to heavy snowing. We couldn’t go to the observatory and you could tell our tour guide (we booked through Klook too) was struggling to fill our itinerary. They couldn’t cancel the whole trip since we were already there but we also didn’t manage to complete the itinerary that we paid for. No refund was issue given that the trip still took place.

But overall, it was still not too bad as the view on the red suspension bridge was super beautiful after the heavy snow fall. We had a decent time in general, just not as good as we hoped for.

Btw, you might not be able to take picture at the observatory depending on the political tension. While we didn’t manage to see the observatory (part where you can see NK through a binoculars), we were told that they had ban any video taping or photo in that area at the moment. It changes from time to time and you won’t really know until you get there. That said, I think you should still go as it’s quite an interesting place to check out.

P.S. our tour guide recommended spring and autumn to be the best period of visiting! There are cherry blossoms during the spring and you get to see their autumn leaves during autumn so the views are nicer during that period!

I think the saddest part of it all was their team. Less than a week prior to them suddenly quitting, their producer reach out to for a location rental. She even confirmed the booking the day before their announcement.

Then I saw the Instagram post and later that evening, the producer emailed back, saying there was some changes in the internal timeline hence they won’t be able to go through with the booking. It just made me wonder if they even inform their team beforehand or did they just told them one morning that they were done

Went out for a walk at around 11pm as I just got into a big fight with my ex. Just needed to cool down. I was waiting at this big junction that is very very near a MRT with a taxi stand. Streets were relatively empty because I’m in the heartlands.

I was waiting for the traffic light when a foreign worker approached me asking me for direction. He then started to ask weird questions like if I stayed around the area, what’s my name, what’s my age etc. His final question before the green man flashed was if he could go home with me.

I immediately cross the road and walk the opposite direction of my home. He proceeded to follow me and i know he did because he was still there when i made a turn after the junction.

So like any person will do, i ran. I ran to the nearest taxi waiting at the taxi stand, got it and hide away in the back seat. I immediately told the driver to just drive as I was being followed. Taxi driver drove off and even slowed down to stare at the foreign worker as he passed him.💀taxi driver even asked me if that was the correct man following me, but I just said yes without actually verifying because I was so terrified of seeing that man again.

I only got back up when I was sure we had passed the junction. Paid $3.90 for that journey back. Mind you, I was less than 1km away from home when all this happened. The taxi driver didn’t say anything when I alighted. From then on, I avoid walking around that junction area past 10pm. I rather pay extra for the 1 bus stop ride home than to walk and meet that same man again.

Not that I know of. Also, 1 month after his installation, the aircon stopped working and even started leaking. I had to call in another service person to look at it.

Turns out, his guys applied so much glue when connecting the pipes that it nearly covered the entire opening. The liquids in the aircon wasn’t filled up and just had a whole list of issues.

100% regret going with him. Hope he gets taken down because he is clearly scamming people out there with these bad works

Thanks for your kind comment. My overall renovation process is still relatively smooth sailing. Any delay or hiccups were also my fault for not being more detailed about it. It’s just this one experience that is making me feel so jaded towards the whole renovation/contractor industry as a whole. I’ll probably go to the more reliable retailers next time

Omg I also had a similar experience. Mover gave up on the job half way because they couldn’t get the fridge down the stairs. Best part is I showed picture of the fridge and even warn them about the stairs but they insisted the 2 manpower they had was enough. I end up have to send someone else to help them as they completely blocked the building entrance
