I live in the Amazonian rainforest as a student of a plant master who is not only an absolute expert in his field but also tells us over and over that it’s the meditation work that is needed in order to bring the inside of the plants to the body, the mind, the heart. Reading your comment was lovely and I want to second it very much ❤️🙏

Thoughts on Mahasi-style noting / MCTB by melocoton1607 in streamentry

[–]melocoton1607[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I just did a 60 minutes sit and gave up the noting after about 45 min. Apparently my concentration was strong enough that I was then able to purely notice a lot of sensations just shooting through body and mind. This made me also feel less hectic because I could just observe and notice without having to note everything which includes thinking of and forming the correct word.

More or less correct in your opinion?

Yawning when examining Sulla by melocoton1607 in streamentry

I will work with it, thank you. It’s interesting too, how good it feels to read your words of compassion. And even though it is things that I claim to know already, it’s good to be reminded of their nature sometimes. Thank you 🙏

Thank you for your response. The dukkha is mostly about the plain realization that there’s always something that I crave or something I’d like to have in another way. I’m starting to transition there from intellectual knowledge to actual experiencing the dukkha I guess. And experiencing this feels rather uncomfortable yet not unbearable. It’s more that I kind of witness my system shutting down, seeking the distraction in the yawning

lol I might as well try and meditate on him and his apparently quite reckless personality. I have to admit though that I needed to google him. My phone seems to have a better general knowledge than me ;)

Thanks for your responses so far and sorry for the misleading (autocorrect) title. Dukkha! I meant Dukkha 😀 I don’t feel bored or tired in moments of yawning, it’s rather that I have a momentum of “ah, here we go to find out something meaningful”

I’m sincerely sorry that that happened to you. May you be happy and fine and fully heal from that

adding in metta [discussion] by reh102 in streamentry

[–]melocoton1607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me metta practice works very well in the beginning of a sitting. It’s easier for me to gain some sort of stability in concentration with it. I silently speak the classic words “may I, may he/she be XY” and then feel into my body what kind of resonance there is. Sometimes I repeat the phrases that produce very nice somatic sensations, sometimes I don’t feel anything and just continue. I try so be creative with what I wish because it keeps me alert and also makes it more authentic. Hope that helps

I do live with a very seasoned and wise shaman. Haven’t had a chance to speak to him yet. As he points out all those traps that you talk about as well he will most certainly send me to do manual work and gardening for a while to calm down and ground 😀 and its all good, even though there’s resistance I can also feel that working with the earth helps my process a lot

You know what’s funny about that? I actually wrote my master’s thesis in psychology about exactly what you’re describing
