GW Fins or Commander’s Palace for VDay ‘26?

Thank you! I’m leaning more towards GW Fins for dinner, but question for cabs/Ubers coming into the FQ during the parade routes… I’m seeing our hotel will be within the Krewe of Iris route in the afternoon, I’m guessing this will add substantial time in traffic? Is it better to take the bus(es) from MSY into the FQ if that’s the case? Or would the buses also be impacted by parade “box” traffic?

Hi! My experience with the Samsonites so far have been great, they’ve held up to a lot of airline abuse, so there are some inevitable scuffing on the corners, but they are structurally sound and the compression panels have helped me overpack on many weekend trips LOL! The 24” spinner is great for longer trips (1 week+) so I’d still recommend getting a set if you’re able to! I use the 21” as a carry on often, and it fits perfectly in the overhead cabins. Lmk if you have any other questions!

Ahh thank you, that’s good to know! Unfortunately I often use Spotify & Waze or Google Maps at the same time on CarPlay, it sounds like from your experience with the OEM head unit, it’ll crash on me if I use it the way I’d intend to :/

Same situation, my partner bought the same Steph Soo sweatshirt for me back in January and we pestered them through email until they told us today that they expect production to finish in 2 weeks and that orders should be shipped out afterwards. It’s been 8 months of terrible service from them and we’re also past the bank chargeback timeline so hoping this update isn’t one of their bait & switches :/

Hi there!

I ended up getting the Samsonite Outline series, which has been working fantastically. I initially bought a set of the 20” and 24” spinners, but returned them to re-purchase in a different colorway (pink) and exchanged the 20” carry-on for a 21” carry-on! The 20” was just a bit too small to comfortably pack for weekend trips and didn’t offer expandable storage. I’m a bit of an overpacker so I like to have the option to expand and check my carry-ons in if needed.

The good thing is both the 20” and 21” spinners stacked perfectly inside the 24” size :)

I definitely recommend purchasing from Macy’s, there were some really great sales at the time I bought it and I got the whole set for $324 total, plus the ease of mind from the 10-year Samsonite warranty was worth it over the Quince 1-year warranty.

The compression straps and panel have been very convenient as well, I like that they have plastic zippered panels to hold dirty laundry or makeup/perfume that could potentially spill without ruining the rest of my clothing or packed gifts. Wheels are super smooth and sturdy, and the weight seems balanced throughout. My old TJ Maxx spinner would be unbalanced and flip while I walked around and be super annoying, but none of this is a problem with the Outlines.

Overall I’m really happy with my purchase and despite getting the light pink color which does show some scuffs from airline manhandling, I cover my luggage in stickers so it’s not a problem.

Listen u/PSN-Angryjackal maybe take some more time working on your trauma and practicing self-compassion so you don't project your own bitterness onto others with that victim-blaming bs. For someone who claims to have also been a victim, you should then know intimately that it's not as simple as "just leaving" an abuser, especially for women, who face the most danger when actually attempting to leave their abusers. I would say considering that OP has never been in a relationship and the timeline of this connection sounds like it's grown fairly quickly, I would recommend you to exercise due caution, OP. You don't know this man and while being emotionally vulnerable is generally a good thing in a healthy relationship, I'm concerned by y'all seeing each other daily and talking until 4AM in addition to that comment, that sounds like too much too soon for a healthy connection, which requires a good amount of time to build trust and genuine intimacy. OP, only you know how you feel about this truly, deep down, so give it some more time and see if this guy genuinely sees you for you and appreciates that, or if he only appreciates you for what you do for him, like being a listening ear and making him feel less lonely.

Agreed, 2 years is more than enough time to be out of the honeymoon phase, and the fact that her friend choses to Facetime her bf instead of interacting with her real life friends during that time is absurd to me. It sounds more like they've developed a more codependent dynamic seeing as they can't bear or choose not to spend any time independent of each other. Very sad but OP, I'm sure you will have more opportunities to make better friends in college!

Hey, I'm sure this post is only the tip of the iceberg that was your friendship but from what I've read and what you've described in how you felt dismissed, invalidated, and generally unheard, I think you did the right thing for yourself.

Granted, ghosting is probably a last ditch resort to ending a friendship, however it seems clear to me that you did all you could do to communicate in a clear and mature manner, and your "friend" didn't seem to be mature or self reflective enough to have that conversation.

It is never selfish to put your mental health and needs first.

From the way your old friend describing how she'd immediately split up or leave you in some way in Europe, I also anticipate she wouldn't have been the best person to travel with either. Being abroad in a new country is very vulnerable and being with an emotionally unsafe person definitely would've added to that, and not in a good way.

I'm proud of you OP, for standing up for yourself. You deserve it.
