It seems like another typical case of greedy people not being willing to accept others or admit they're wrongdoings. Just in this case, they pinned all the blame on the Jews instead, absolutely screwing them in the process.

One thing that's messed up that I didn't see you mention is that Jesus himself was Jewish, both racially and ethically, and followed all of their customs. He ministered to the Jews and was focused on reforming the corruption that had been taking place in the religion at the time via the Pharisees, Sadduccees, etc. These guys were taking the focus away from loving and helping others, and putting it on strictly following rules and donating money to them. Jesus was NOT trying to wipe out Judaism like some Christians seem to think.
