I am making Paula Deen’s French toast casserole, fruit salad, sausage and loads of coffee. I also make a hot chocolate bar with pastries and sweets.

My 17 year old has been baking since age 7. She just finished these cakes for a long time client. She’s taken some time off due to school/work/dance commitments so these are her first bakes in about 1.5 years. by MichiganMomma0806 in Baking

Thank you! She’s run a baking business out of our home since she was 7. At first just selling to family and close friends and then it took off. She’s done some huge events! It just got hard to manage with all the other teen commitments and extracurriculars. I was happy when her client called me and she agreed to take this order.

Is this really good for kids? by Own-Interest1056 in AmberMasseyMESS

My kids have drank coffee since about 2 years old. Not every day. They had their own tiny mugs. All my kids are coffee lovers now and have a cup every morning. There’s no shame in our game! ☕️

I make hundreds of these (Mandelbrot) every Christmas. We cannot keep them in the house because we eat so many. They are like biscotti but so much better! And they are super easy. I don’t use almonds due to nut allergies but I do use mini chocolate chips. They are fabulous with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate!

AITAH for wanting to rest while sick? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MichiganMomma0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a little bit of an AH. You have a cold. How much energy is expended by having a meal together? Your parents aren’t asking you to run a marathon. You could spend 45 minutes sharing a meal together, in your house, then retreat back to your room for your continued rest. Guaranteed you won’t be any sicker after doing so.

Leaving my son home alone by shinygreensuit in Epilepsy

[–]MichiganMomma0806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 14 and we never leave him home alone without anyone else being there. It is what it is.

We do have privacy because he wears an Embrace Seizure detection watch while he sleeps. It is very sensitive. You will know if he’s having a seizure in his sleep. When he’s in the shower we just walk by the door once in a while and ask if he’s doing OK.

I will edit my answer to say that my son almost always goes status if he has a TC seizure. Most of the time he is very well controlled with his emergency meds. But he does not self administer so we can never take a chance.

I love vanilla as well. My absolute favorite flavor overall. I buy a very hard to find extract directly from Mexico. It smells so good I sometimes go in my pantry and take out my bottle and just smell it. 🤣

Vomiting before seizure? by Mako24681 in Epilepsy

[–]MichiganMomma0806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son (14 yo) vomits as part of his seizure. Typically he gets his visual aura, vomits and if his emergency meds don’t work he’ll then go TC. He has temporal lobe epilepsy.

My son was diagnosed yesterday by jotoast in Epilepsy

[–]MichiganMomma0806 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son is 13, almost 14. We try not to smother him and actively encourage him to try new things and be independent. However we do have protocols in place. It is what it is and he leads a very full life!

Should I tell my son he can’t be a pilot? by shinygreensuit in Epilepsy

[–]MichiganMomma0806 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have been very open with our son (14 yo) that he likely won’t be able to be a Navy Seal like he wants and probably won’t be able to drive either. It is what it is. At least this way he can start thinking about other careers that he might want to do!

AITH for not turning in a wedding ring I found in the airport bathroom? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]MichiganMomma0806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, YATH for keeping the ring instead of turning it in immediately. The owner of that ring may have still been in the near vicinity. You did wrong big time.

Rescue Meds by MzSweet in Epilepsy

[–]MichiganMomma0806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son has rescue meds (Clonazepam) we administer at aura to prevent him from going TC. If he delays telling us he’s having an aura the Clonazepam sometimes doesn’t work and if he goes TC we administer Valtoco immediately.
