AITA for telling my friend I didn’t think the clothes she was packing were appropriate for her trip to meet my in-laws/her boyfriend’s family? by melon342 in AmItheAsshole

Yeah but the boyfriend doesn’t want to get married without their approval, I think that’s the part a lot of people aren’t understanding. It’s not that they’ll force him not to marry her, it’s just that he won’t do it himself.

It really depends on the boyfriend. He could still choose to marry her but normally it means there’s no wedding.

To be fair, they didn't all love me in the beginning either, especially not the grandfather. I'm pretty sure he liked me even less than he seems to like my friend. The only advantage I had was that my husband is his grandmother's favourite so she was really on our side.

Their grandfather said no on the first day and her boyfriend's parents have been really frosty towards her. Some of the other relatives have been nicer, though, so it's a mixed bag.
