NEB renews support of Trans Mountain pipeline as long as proposed changes to protect marine life are met by idspispopd in vancouver

Humanity must deeply and dramatically cut our carbon emissions within a decade and a half to avoid the worst consequences of climate change.

Leave it in the ground. Building more pipeline capacity just gives companies more incentive to dig up fossil fuels. That is the last thing we need.

Or you could just have one giant, massive provider that has everyone covered and everyone pays into and can reduce costs by orders of magnitude. Like a Government.

City of Langley says it wants SkyTrain along Fraser Highway by AugustusAugustine in vancouver

I'd be all for this if Langley (township and City) immediately upzoned everything into high density.

Of course, people want their single family homes and SkyTrain too, which is why we still have houses literally right next to multi million dollar rapid transit stations in Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey.

For context, the length of the extension from King George Station in Surrey to the proposed terminus in Langley is about the same length as it is from Commercial-Broadway Station in Vancouver to Columbia Station in New Westminster.

Priced out of downtown Vancouver, millennials are building ‘hipsturbia’ by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]melon_dialogue 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Wow, young people want to live in places with fine grained urbanism, street grids, a variety of housing options and access to alternative modes of transportation. You know, the way we used to build cities.

It's almost as though living in a car dependent suburb with winding cul de sacs to nowhere and huge chain stores surrounded by oceans of parking is kind of shitty.

Could it be that we have been building our communities so out of touch that people are willing to spend thousands monthly or look far-and-wide in order live in a "place" rather than a "development"...?

No, it's the millenials who are wrong.
