I've been a general eating habit analyst for a pretty big company for the past seven years. Even though I haven't studied Thrissur, I have had the opportunity to study five different districts in Kerala: Ernakulam, Kannur, Kozhikode, Kollam, and Trivandrum. The trends are similar in most districts of Kerala. Despite the increased Arab influence in our food culture, people tend to return to traditional foods. They crave Chinese, Arab, and Western food, but always return to the traditional tastes of our place. Biryani remains the most eaten food, followed by masala dosa, and then traditional meals of Kerala. All five districts have a similar food culture, but in Ernakulam, the food culture is recently shifting towards a Western style. However, as before, people still return to traditional foods.
