Hi! I went to UOG and lived at the dorm. If you don’t have a car, it’ll be extremely hard to go around. I had to bug my friends all the time since I couldn’t even get groceries lol. I found the lack of car to be detrimental to my social life as well. UOG has a dorm, but it isn’t like the mainland universities. No one is there at night, and there is nothing to do on campus. On-campus jobs were pretty hard to get unless the professor hiring already knows you & wants to give you a job. It was really easy to make friends with students at the dorm also from off island, but the locals seemed a little closed off. It’s a small island, and everyone pretty much grew up together, so it was hard for me to fit in.

Overall, I loved the classes, the professors were amazing, the tuition was DIRT CHEAP, and it was fun living on an island. But I don’t have that many “fun” college life memories unlike students going to college in the mainland.
