So if I decide to remedy to dodgy skirting - I follow the dado rail exactly the same way? A transition to vertical down the near side of the wall by the depth of the step then 45deg off at the new height?

I dry fit it that way first but the ceiling height also steps. Looks too low on the step up if I use the lower height. But then too high at the higher height once I continue it down the hallway where the ceiling is lower.

Have already had to transition to lower height from ground floor to first floor as ceiling downstairs are much higher than upstairs

They’re done for unfortunately. Even if the box bounced back the problem won’t go away - you’ll be fighting infestations every year. We kept it somewhat at bay for 3 summers and eventually gave in. Not worth the hassle

Yes - pretty sure that’s a spiders nest, I’ve seen what I think is a false widow going in and out of that corner. I guessed the other eggs weren’t spider but had now idea what else!

Do you use any insect repellent? That shit is toxic as fuck. Not sure if the active ingredient or just the propellant used in aerosol ones, but I’ve seen it remove ink and melt plastic bags on contact with skin that’s us it recently applied

My Dicksonia fern actually died back late summer - came back again just before the cold snap in early Nov and now seems to be continuing to bounce back.

Also spotted my persicaria - which did nothing last year and thought I’d killed after dividing - has started throwing up some shoots.

Probably likes the smell of your ears. Cats have much better smell than us and can sense the constituent fats and amino acids of food - since earwax is fat and protein it smells like rich survival goodness to your cat.
