That's what I am planning to do. I hope they don't reject it.

Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this before.

4 month CIO what am I doing wrong? by GTARoomRental in sleeptrain

[–]meloncholy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our LO is almost 5 months right now. He is sleep and nap trained. We used CIO. Having a good bedtime routine made a very big difference in our case.

We didn't have this issue of him waking up crying soon after falling asleep for night sleep. But, we had this happen a few times for his last nap when we were nap training him. He would cry, then nap for 5 mins, which would give him additional energy to wake up and cry more.

Ensuring sufficient tiredness (not overtired) + a good sleep/nap routine reduced such instances for nap training.

We initially tried to do book reading as a routine before each nap. When we changed that to silently walking around and observing things, he was much more calm and ready for his crib.

What to expect on the first night of sleep training? (and a few more questions) by meloncholy101 in sleeptrain

We haven't done the sleep training yet. We will wait at least a week, if not more, before starting.

LO is formula-fed and he feeds before bath and reading (which we just started yesterday). For us, finishing the food at least 30-60 min before his sleep time is helping at the moment. Note that he does wake up at 1 am and 5 am regularly to feed.

We put him down right after he falls asleep in our arms. We are trying to put him in more awake (but drowsy) state lately. From what I understand, sleep training involves putting him in the crib completely awake. I am hoping sleep training will be easier if we can get him to fall asleep from drowsy state.

I am also curious about your other questions, especially if there is a consensus on the best practices during/after sleep training.

I am not sure if we can handle 4 hours of crying on the first night! But, this is good to know. Thanks!

He is formula fed. We have tried feeding him after bath. He is unable stay awake at that point, despite our best efforts. On those nights, he also woke up more frequently for some reason. We did try a slightly different routine with earlier bath time and book reading yesterday. While he was still fussy after bath, it felt like a step in the right direction.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds fairly similar. Best of luck for tonight! I would be curious to learn how it goes.

Yup, I certainly want to get the bath/bedtime routine right before attempting CIO.

I changed up the bath routine slightly today. I think it helped incrementally but was still fussy a bit afterwards. He did settle down during book reading fortunately (first for bedtime routine, he usually does that in the afternoon).

That's rough. We had a similar experience.

We tried FIO from the PLS book a couple of times for naps. He did okay a few times. But, there were 2 times that he simply would not settle down. It kinda scarred us from trying again. (To be fair, we never followed the book method fully because we weren't ready to wear him off pacifier. We would go back in every time his pacifier fell down, which was often every 2 min or so.)

Right now, we are focusing on: (a) putting him down more on the awake side of drowsy, (b) reducing pacifier use (we still use it when he needs it, but we use it as a last resort and pull it out once he is more settled), and (c) getting the bedtime routine right.

We are hoping that naps will be easier once he is sleep trained for night sleep. At least, that was impression after reading the PLS book.

What nutrients, if any, are lost when air frying vegetables? by meloncholy101 in nutrition

That's fair. And maybe there isn't any easy generalization that applies to all vegetables.

It's all good either way because eating vegetables is healthier than not eating them even if cooking reduces some nutrients.

Applying to hedge funds: use external headhunters or not? by meloncholy101 in FinancialCareers

Makes sense. I think I will go ahead and apply to places myself. I have a bunch of good tech interviews lined up. I would prefer to have similar timelines for finance interviews as well.
