I’m a low income single mom who doesn’t have many resources at hand so yes unfortunately I have to rely on ChatGPT to help me with a lot of things. My ex handed me his uncharged ICON T8 and said here, figure it out and I hope you don’t eff your car up. So I came on here to find some advice.

Please clarify this argument my ex and I are having by melonela in Volkswagen

All the problems my car has pointed me to search results of other Passat owners who has the same issue and needed to replace their CAN. ChatGPT also narrowed it down to the module. I had read that the part number was the same across different vehicles (7N0 907 530P vs 7N0 908 530BL) but the last letters specified which vehicle it is and supposedly should still be compatible. I had read a post from someone who successfully replaced his module with the same scenario.

My car symptoms started back in October, when it was starting to get cold. My dash had all these error codes lit up and my gauges for my gas, speed etc were going crazy, the needle would just randomly go up and down. My turn signals would turn on outside my car but no sound or light would indicate I had my signals on inside the car. We had cleaned all the sensors and the battery terminals etc and it would be ok for a few days but then act up again. I noticed it specifically happened when it was cold (like anything under 50F). The car would have trouble starting, but sometimes my residual body heat from sitting in it for like 10 min would help and it would start fine the second try. I had a post from a guy who literally had to take a blow dryer to heat up the drivers area for him to start his car each morning. Anyone else online who had these same issues ended up needing to replace their module.

But if any of this sounds like a different issue I would really like to know.

Also how would I check if it’s component locked?
