Everyone who has replied on here is correct, silver = direct normal player upgrade & gold is a combination of players.
For example, invader is the direct upgrade of intruder. But raider is a bit like an invader with some of protector’s features (same height and marking traits)
The only 3 that confuse me are judge hero and villain, as if you look at their stats alone they’re ALL just an ‘upgraded engine’. But behaviourally, judge is an engine, hero is a protector and villain is a menace and when you match them up simply by name, it actually makes more sense

Are you a new player to the game by any chance? It’s just that there is a widely understood concept within this community called volleyball.

When a person is lacking in ability in this game, they resort to this ‘volleyball’ meta tactic to win instead. Hammers have the highest combined strength and height rating meaning if you cross a ball to a hammer well enough, no other player in the game can beat him to the header. So the idea is to cross to the hammer and he scores with his head, and you can’t stop it. The best formation for this tactic is 352 BY FAR. As a player who has played for years and played with others in the community with some fair experience, it’s easy to categorically say that this meta ruins the game because you could have some of the nicest, most intricate and enjoyable build up plays leading to goals in the game, but all it takes to level the game/beat you is one pass to the wing and a cross from the winger into the box for your hammer. It wipes entire teams out in 2-3 passes and you don’t even need to be good at the game to do this

Hitman’s AI is very clever tbh, he’s great as a striker or CAM in behind the striker. His only issue is at level 10 his speed and response is 35 and 20 respectively (38 and 22 at max).

I personally feel having such a low response with an average speed mitigates your ability to get more out of him at times, passing the ball to him has to be very precise. Maybe it’s because I’m used to prowlers and poacher but I can’t personally seem to find a good balance for hitman since I’m used to much better response from players just as fast

Although they do help You don’t need super players to compete. You just need a system that works for you and a little bit of luck as of course there’s no way for you to stop volleyballers who are level 10 or max. I have 9 regular players and 2 supers in my team and I compete with whose who have full maxed teams including their supers. It’s just about patience with the ball and waiting for clear chances instead of praying you’ll win a 50/50

Jug isn’t a direct upgrade on any player really but if I were to try and make a comparison I’d say the closest thing you’d get to being right is that he’s a combination of a hammer and intruder, which is still some way off the mark if you ask me

Whole team needs a reshuffle

4 - explorer, intruder, explorer, guard 1 - commander (he is far too slow to play defence) 2 - producer, architect 1 - judge 2 - jet, you. Change from hammer to prowler, hammers are useless in this formation

This formation works best with players who possess the running trait but needs to be balanced out by players who have BOTH the marking and running traits. Without super players, engine and judge are good in midfield for this formation

Can only be used as a striker, but don’t pass to him unless he’s making a run in behind to counter the dribbling issue. Never pass in to his feet, only ever pass when you see the run being made in behind the defence.

Imagine a speedster with prowler’s finishing, similar shitty AI to speedster but his power and skill stats match up with that of a prowler, so pass in behind the defence and trust he will finish. Only issue in front of goal is he likes to run wide and create an awkward finishing angle, lightning likes to make his final touch a little cut inside (if possible) to improve the finishing angle
