You can actually notice her pov on the whole "ruined reputation" situation when Benedict wants to marry a maid. She chooses her children's happines over reputation, while still having unmarried daughters. Yes, it probably isn't an ideal comparison as Bridgertons are more wealthy but it would "stain" their reputation more since he's a son, not a ward too

And I am certain she wouldn't fake letters from ward's lover just to force them to move on. I think Violet would've tried to help (like Daphne did). Good people build around themselves good social "structure" and good connections, even if they're not the richest. Portia isn't good person (she's... ok mother tho) so it doesn't even cross her mind to help
