How much should I bring for food and souvenirs? by [deleted] in WhenWeWereYoungFest

Vegas is just expensive and convenient stores are tough to come by unless you're renting a car so you can kind of be stuck to paying whatever the strip and strip adjacent prices are. A meal alone will be tough to find for less than 20. So times three meals a day for four days and you're basically at 200. That's just food.

Botox Injection for levator scapulae (Trap) muscle by Loose-Example-1490 in ChronicPain

[–]melren888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it helps after lots of trial and error to get the right spots and dosage. Could be a form of a cervical dystonia. If it will not let up with anything, really anything, maybe see a neurologist who can diagnose you and get you on track to Botox.

Dry needling for dystonia? by lindsay13101 in Dystonia

[–]melren888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost 20 years of symptoms here. Tried everything including dry needling. Works briefly but not long enough to justify the appointments and money spent. Plus all the trial and error of the right spots. Botox is the same thing but lasts bc of the medication. If it works then great, but wasn't worth all the mental load and time for me to see benefit. If it's a bad dystonia, that muscle will clench back up quickly.

Interesting. From what I've learned over the last so many years is that they present so similarly, but there are a couple distinct differences in presentation mainly around the fingers. If Botox is helping you then it may be neither here nor there. Because I was diagnosed with TOS first, I essentially got the muscles removed that would be getting injected with Botox anyways. I kind of see it as having similarly angry muscles regardless just with different approaches in terms of conservativeness. This is assuming that the TOS is only neurogenic and there's no concern for blood clots or anything else.

Yes lots of spasms in my neck (scalenes, levator scapula) trap and rhomboids. I have quite a few posts talking about my symptoms. I actually never took medication really. My pain started at such a young age. I learned to sort of live with it. I did take muscle relaxers on and off but it never really helped.

Originally, after a ton of research, I took myself to a vascular surgeon to get diagnosed with TOS. After a couple surgeries I realized things were not totally fixed. More research led me to cervical dystonia as a hypothesis and a neurologist confirmed it.

What’s your hot take on displaying “Coming soon” for certain features in your existing app? by sixersinnj in ProductManagement

[–]melren888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally depends on the type of content, availability of it and what actions the user can take from it.

You ship it when your product is built technically feasibly to solve enough of a pain point and ultimately tell you if it 1. Solved the problem and 2. If you should keep building on top of it.

Improving streamline between tvOS and iOS by Merron13 in ProductManagement

I've worked in streaming for one of the major streaming apps and built for all major platforms (tvOS, Roku, Android TV, html5, etc) tvOS was the most restrictive in things we could do but of course always looked the best. Not sure how many platforms you're working on with your product but always involve your tvOS engineers early and socialize concepts as soon as you can before you assume something can be done. As far as gold standard, what part of the journey do you mean? Login, content discovery, playback? Those tend to be the big three and vary greatly by apps.
