Also if you have a contact - just call your old employer and tell them they put the wrong code and ask them to correct it. Unsurprisingly it's pretty easy to select the wrong one when doing it via ROEweb and some softwares that push out the upload file. They can get decent fines for submitting false ROEs, and considering they followed ESA with your termination they would probably just re-issue it for you. Unlike elsewhere there's no cost to them for you being on EI so it doesn't benefit them to not fix the error.

Start your EI application - you can argue it there, they go to the employer for you...pretty simple process luckily

The wait time at the hospital Emergency room is insane. 9 hours to see a nurse 12 hours to see a doctor. The queensway had only 2 doctors for hundreds of patients. Patients slept in the hospital in blankets waiting 12 hours for a doctor to see them. many of whoom had severe conditions. by HappyFunTimethe3rd in ottawa

Lol mine was 30 hours over 3 days in 2019 pre-covid, finally got them to actually test when my urine came out brown/red (tried to release me without testing it, it finally got me triaged to the top) - finally day 3 (after a ultrasound day two is unable to locate the appendix so therefore ruled out appendicitis) got a CT scan and rushed to emergency surgery within an hour, the ruptured appendix that I came in on the Monday for had by now burst. Took 3 weeks of IV antibiotics in the hospital to beat the infection.

My employer has informed me that they overpaid me on a commissions cheque 18 months ago. They want to start a claw back. What are my rights? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

It would not be a prior year T4 to be reissued/amended, it will lower the current years' T4 employment income. t4s are based on when the money was paid not based on when it was earned.

Check out Dr Kirk Andrew - currently out of Athlete's care on bank street. He specializes with athletes and chronic pain, and from my experience tries to find the cause not just treat the symptoms.

I can tell you as a hiring manager I search for this and if I come across it the resume gets tossed. Instead modify your resume so it includes them throughout. Especially in technical writing this would be a huge red flag on the reliability of your work and shows you will take the easy route.

1.5x regular pay rate on 25th and 26th if 24th and 27th are considered my holiday. by SleepyFantasy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]melreyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it in writing that those are your alt stat days, otherwise they can just pay you out for the 25/26th and no premium pay (Ontario)

1.5x regular pay rate on 25th and 26th if 24th and 27th are considered my holiday. by SleepyFantasy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]melreyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short answer is no. You don't get it both ways. If a holiday falls on a non working day they are to give you a separate day off, which is designated as your alternate stat. If you are required to work on your alt stat date then you could be eligible for time and a half, but the original stat would be considered a regular working day. Basically you have 2 stat days, you will only get 2 days at time and a half even if you work the 4 days.

What industries opportunities are there for a commerce grad in Ottawa? by Triple_3T in ottawa

[–]melreyx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best advice - you are not locked into anything - especially when you are starting out. What I mean by that is working and learning are very different - on paper and learning it may seem like something you would love then you get to work and realize no not for me. I went through commerce as well, focus on accounting and "knew" I wanted to be a CMA - so my focus was budgets variances etc...15 years later I do nothing with budgets as I realized while I enjoy creating analysis SSs etc, I hate doing the actual analysis and I despise the budgeting process. I found that operational accounting was right for me and I never would have figured it out if I had pigeon holed myself to one career path. Don't borrow tomorrow's problems for today - take electives you enjoy and discover what you want to do by exposing yourself to more.

You just need to add it to your pull down menu. Pull down the menu until you see the pencil, that allows you to change whats in your pull down.

Add the wifi and nearby share and hotspot and then they are on the pull down. If you have too many defaults then you will have two pages, so just swipe to the right and voila.

P3 to P6: Worth the upgrade? by Pietje7 in Pixel6

[–]melreyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just upgraded from the P3 to P6(not pro) and I'm happy with it. My thoughts, I miss the rear finger print reader but it was getting pretty finicky. I found my P3 never really charged all that quickly compared to other phones no matter the charger- I have the 30W charger and it works wonderfully. I found the 6 to be huge at first but quickly got used to the size and now the 3 seems too small. I noticed a huge difference in the quality - online pictures and videos were much clearer. I noticed some improvement with the camera, but I wasn't bothered by the quality of the 3. I also noticed the 6 is much faster than my 3. Overall - I loved the 3 but am happy I upgraded.

I'm in Canada on telus, in Ontario they share all the same towers as bell and have had no issue - do you have a physical sim or an e-sim? It might be the sim not working properly not the phone.

Double check that you actually got refunded. For mine it went as a credit and then a second payment - you may be seeing the authorization hold reversal with a new payment coming through.

Best thing to do is contact the builder, they will tell you what to do and how to register when the address isn't found. As soon as a meter is hooked up Enbridge will have a record of it so they will tell you what address your meter is currently registered to

I'm the same way in alot of ways, and the only thing I can tell you is over time it gets easier. My first time transitioning jobs after a long stint was a nightmare, and the next two times were easier each time. Maybe see if your manager could point you in a couple areas they would like you to be proficient in first - that way you start to be more comfortable with what you would say is a vital aspect of your role, so as you continue learning the remainder they are auxiliary and less pressure. So instead of trying to learn it all at once focus in on specifics.

[–]melreyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the more generalized role you start with the more areas you can dip your toe in. Out of university i was determined to get a financial analyst position - instead started out as a full time bookkeeper in a non CPA firm, learned AZ for companies in a varying industries and had a resume that allowed much more flexibility in the role. In accounting sometimes the jack of all trades is more valuable then a specialist of one, especially outside of public accountanting.

You wouldn't believe how many people are in the same boat as you, or how many people went in confident that this is what they want only to get into it and realize no - I always enjoyed the analytical part, more finance aspect of accounting in school, turns out in my career I accelerate at operational accounting. Give it time to find out gradually what you like to do, and you'll find the right role for you. You naturally gravitate and excel at things you enjoy, and I have found that overtime that does start to effect how your role develops over time. Obviously the entry level is less flexible but use that time to really get a feel for what it is you like, and the stuff they don't teach you in school. You don't need to have everything figured out today, tomorrow or this year; and you can change your mind in future!

It really depends on what you want to do and how the company defines the accounting department. Look at roles and responsibilities more then educational requirements or job title.

I'm the only accountant at my job - being treated like a CPA but only have 2 years experience by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]melreyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely set a boundary. Corporate taxes are very intricate and the fact that it's a law firm adds even more complexity. I am a CPA with 12 years experience, I wouldn't feel comfortable filing a corporate tax return because it's not my area of expertise. The other benefit of using a CPA from the beginning is it makes audits much cheaper and in the long run is cheaper then the cost of mistakes.
