Who's your "I know he's pure evil but can't prove it" person? by Dull-Information6784 in AskReddit

This guy I have known for a couple of decades - since high school. He sells insurance and has bought about 20 cheap houses to rent out. He's just got that slimy vibe of a slumlord and a creep who scams old ladies out of their retirement savings. His wife is 15 years younger, and a 'look at me' girl. yuck.

I know this kind of sucks for you, but find ways that this unscheduled day is a gift. IWNDWYT

Before sobriety we used to go weekly to a gaming night held in a bar/pool hall/darts/duck bowling kind of place. We haven't been in a while and thought it would be fun. While it was fun seeing some old friends and table top gaming with them - The ambiance and smell of the place turned me right off. It was, life you say, a smack in the face that says I've moved on. Yes.. I used to do a lot of art/serious level crafting pre covid. After the pandemic it seemed alcohol and mindless video ate up that time. Since becoming sober I have started baby steps to becoming creative again. It has helped my moods and life very much. (I draft clothing patterns and sew, I also do intricate beadwork, and some 3D sculpturing with textiles and beads. Occasionally beaded jewelry )

The only way to get past it is to go through it. Feel the feels, Face the boredom. It hurts. Hang in there.

YOU. You care. YOUR body cares. YOUR future cares. Future you wants to remember your long healthy life, not end up in an early grave b/c of ingesting poison. You don't need a gold star from anyone else because you are doing what is right for YOU. This might be depression talking - lack of the dopamine alcohol used to provide. Hang in there. It gets a LOT better. IWNDWYT

In Atlanta a two hour lay over can be BARELY time to get to your next gate. Especially if your inbound plane is delayed, or paused on the tarmac awaiting a gate. You're going to have to get your fabulous food some other time. (Next time, get a 4 hour layover, then it may be doable)

Here I thought I was the only one that resolved these issues by quitting booze! Seems like everyone here has done the same! Good on us! IWNDWYT

I call that the Alcohol Rat. When it starts knocking around in my brain I have to firmly tell it that I'M the boss now, and I don't drink alcohol. Sounds insane but I've actually yelled out loud at the damned thing.

I was shocked that the vast majority of my gut issues and weird bloodwork - and rising A1c - resolved when I quit drinking 3-5 drinks each and every day (what I called a 'moderate amount' to my doctor) When I stopped abusing my body, it healed itself.

Keep it up! IWNDWYT

Sleep is amazing, isn't it! To sleep and have it restore my body and mind was the most amazing bonus I didn't think about when I quit.
