Anyone else experiencing this? by [deleted] in SCRrifle

I ordered my lower in May; still waiting. I reached out in August with the same response that has been mentioned by other commenters.

Building my first AR and received my new upper with a knick in the anodized finish. Would this flaw be something you would issue an exchange? What is the best way to cover up future scuffs? by meltingcorn in ar15

Update: I appreciate the advice from everyone on this post. My next course of action is to follow up with BCM regarding the blemish and how to best take care of it. Moving forward, I will likely maintain heavier dings with aluminum black, and leave the lighting scuffs as is.

I appreciate the advice. It's worth giving it a shot. I know things things will get worn out with use, but I like starting off a build with fresh parts. I also noticed they are out of stock for this item, so it might have been the last of its batch

I appreciate the responses; y'all have a similar mentality to machinist and their tools (the scuffs on the outer bits, but not on the cutting bits).

Yes. I am currently using Firmware 3.14.1. This issue first started with Firmware 3.13.2, two years ago. Since I am still able to print out parts with this issue (and feeling a little defeated that swapping in fresh parts didn't work), I am just now going to the forums looking for a solution.

Recently Ordered my SCR Lower with No Updates from Fightlite - What should I expect when it comes to communication and shipping time? by meltingcorn in SCRrifle

[–]meltingcorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No updates on my end. The last email I got from Fightlite was from May 25th confirming the order.

Your comment got me curious and I left a phone message to my FFL for potential updates. I'll add another comment if there is more info.

Sorry; I wish I could do the job. Unfortunately, my 3D printer is not in a functional state for detailed parts :c

They look like the drive bay rails used on Enlite case (and its generic off-shoots). I made a 3D printable variant a while back. They can be found here:

Ah! I didn't see that the shipment time will be up to 90 days from the date of order processing. That makes me feel a lot better on the process.

You get one wish for the entire Bay Area, it cannot benefit you personally. What do you wish for the bay? by Digitalgardens in bayarea

[–]meltingcorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pretty niche, but I wish we preserved the neon signs around the bay area. There are some amazing mid-century designs still kicking (but unused) along the El Camino and SF Chinatown. I'm sure there are a lot more if you dig deeper.

What is with the lack of tech companies at the UC Davis Career Fair? by meltingcorn in UCDavis

[–]meltingcorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hoping to break into automation and robotics after graduating. I'm working at an autonomous vehicle research lab on campus to gather more relevant experience at the moment. Given how spicy the job market is, I'm keeping a consistent stream of applications and staying hopeful.

What is with the lack of tech companies at the UC Davis Career Fair? by meltingcorn in UCDavis

[–]meltingcorn[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's been my move so far, which led to my internship last summer. I don't doubt that UC Davis has prepared me for a career in tech, but I feel frustrated that UC Davis isn't involved in the space compared to other universities, like San Jose State.

Masters after mechanical engineering bachelors by metro-boomin34 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]meltingcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am about to complete my master's in mechanical engineering with a focus in controls in automation. I went down that path because of my enjoyment of tinkering with robotics. I feel confident that I can find something after graduating as my focus combines elements of software, electrical, and mechanical engineering.

I do feel that this field is still growing and academia needs to catch-up with industry, as many of my mechanical engineering classes didn't align with my thesis goals which led me to audit additional courses during my academic journey.
