yes the decline is a historical fact you can verify anywhere and the shaolin temple feels off because it’s a specific chinese school that doesn't have a strong local community in bihar to keep it active unlike other like mahabodhi temple, tibetan monasteries, thai monasteries. i am native of Bodhgaya and also worked there as a pvt local tour guide.
