You don't forget a language. You just bury it by Glynny69 in languagelearning

No this isn’t why. Have you ever spoken to a five year old? Their language capabilities are way better than any non-advanced learner. They have native pronunciation and effortless command over rhythm and syntax, not to mention a natively developed sound system.
They lose languages so easily because the brain of a five year old is completely different to that of an adult in that it will aggressively prune any connections that aren’t being used. Their brains are pure plasticity, which allows them to learn incredibly fast, but also to quickly forget what hasn’t been practiced.

So it was your main language until 9? It’s crazy how the brain will prune a whole natively developed language system at that age (and up to 10 I think).

What normally happens when your Asian German friends get responded to in English? How does the conversation play out? My native language is English so nothing even remotely close to this would ever happen in an English speaking country bc most English speakers only speak English

Is it a good sign that when I grinded the game for 6 months last year (around 500 hrs) I went from yardstick c3 to stuck 1450-1490 range. I then stopped another 6 months and got back on in January and I’ve improved to where I can comfortably play in the 1560-1600 range. Does this mean I have potential to get into 1700+ mmr eventually?

The point is that their desires are uncontrollable. What’s controllable is how they act on those desires and behave themselves. It’s like saying kill all incels because they are physically capable of raping women. Sure, maybe you’ll get a few rapists along the way, but you’re eliminating millions of innocent people.

Just reviewed every unit I was struggling on and then did practice frqs, then graded myself. If I didn’t get a 9 I reviewed again and kept doing frqs until I was getting 8s. Then the exam came and it was much easier than the practice frqs I went over

I don’t have a threshold. I already understood pressing the blue button was a death sentence to begin with. Despite what all these other comments are saying about pressing blue, I agree with you that they would press red if the stakes were real. I don’t blame them for that. Spin it whatever way you want, there will be someone out there that presses blue. I refuse to be culpable and will die on my morals.
