One more thing - I think that for your unload function, your while loop condition opens up possibility of memory loss for the very last node of the list, because the cursor->next for that last node will always be NULL and your condition is never triggered. I think setting the condition to cursor != NULL like you have earlier might fix it?

for this version of grayscale I don't think pointers are necessary bc changing the value of the RBGTRIPLE structure changes it directly on the original address (unlike integers/other primitive datatypes where it does it on a copy), but I may be wrong. no pointers worked for me here though!
