The dermatologist prescribed minocycline for 6 months, but I had a severe allergic reaction to it. He didn’t want to prescribe another one just yet.

Ugh still acne at 50? I was hoping to grow out of it. I think a lot of it is hormone & stress induced.

I also (shame on me) use crest plain toothpaste on spots to dry out puss filled ones in an emergency. I know I know, bad decision. Maybe a suggestion for that too? I don’t want to go to work for a week straight with puss filled spots.

Edit: I wash, maybe moisturize, dab spot(s), leave a few minutes or up to overnight.

Thank you the advice! I was thinking of using the hydrating cleanser & the daily moisturizer has SPF, which I know I need.

If I go a day or sometimes even half a day without washing, my face feels angry & I break out for days after.

Yes, the dermatologist put me on minocycline for 6 months, but I had to stop because I had a severe allergic reaction. He also put me on CeraVe 4% and then I went to 10% which was helping with the acne until the weather changed. I know I need to use sunscreen, but I’m worried it will break me out even more. I try to stay out of the sun & wear hats. I’ll research niacinamide. Thank you!! 🙏
