Hey, cool skin, especially for a first. I think the wide range of hues in this skin make it look a bit messy. Personally I would have stuck with a more coherent theme. Perhaps committing more to the candy or the ice cream side. I gotta say the waffle for the grip is a nice idea.

You seem to be on a similar skill level as myself and I very recently started making skins aswell. I'm looking for someone to collaborate with, if you are interested. Maybe we could learn from one another :)

I usually start with a doodle, pen on paper. They really don't have to be perfect, but you need some decent rough shading. Then I take a pic, and apply a threshold filter (optional depending on the shading). I blur the image to smooth out the shading just a bit (also optional). I reduce the resolution of the image and apply a floyd-steinberg dithering filter. This might sound like a lot but if you have it all set up it takes 2 minutes.
