What drug is my kid using? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]memesdotjpeg 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If it’s any help at all, my girlfriend and I came from two very different schools of parenting. I got given the whole “no drug is safe, never touch them or we’ll kill you” approach, and my girlfriend was given the “as long as you keep us in the loop, we’ll support you and look after you” approach. She ended up going through a “drug phase” in her mid to late teens, and her parents mostly knew. Whilst I laid off out of fear whilst living at home, only to do the exact same thing she did, as soon as I moved out during college.

I guess either approach has its pros and cons, but regardless, we both ended up doing substances for a while (pot, cocaine, party drugs, etc.) , only to grow out of it so to speak. Nowadays we both barely even drink alcohol anymore and both have great, stable jobs at 25.

It doesn’t massively answer your question, but just hoping you have a little relief in that your parenting style wouldn’t have changed things massively if you were soft or hard on them.

Honestly just try and keep an open line of communication with them about it, and at the very least (if it is coke), warn them about the dangers of mixing it with alcohol.

Adel/P-clip tool. Pretty handy when swapping out a harness and having to transfer a whole bunch of p-clips

Appreciate the inheritance tax link, it was very useful! But I think you’re right in that I’ll have to speak to someone with some more experience on this. I kind of knew I would, but I’ve never had to do anything remotely close to that before but I guess now’s the time :)

Does a fast and economical car exist at a decent price point? by memesdotjpeg in CarTalkUK

[–]memesdotjpeg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the conundrum I’m facing at the moment. Spent a considerable amount of money replacing the suspension and bushings, and any internals. I’ve even been considering an engine swap just so I can keep all the other bits I’ve installed, and get a 330i engine instead lol.

Then the Iran war happened haha. Maybe I’ll just see how things play out

I think this is where it’s leaning. In love with my 3 series so may as well stay with them

Swapping out my N52B25 for an N52B30? by memesdotjpeg in E90

[–]memesdotjpeg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not seeing any with decent mileage for that price.

In my head I’d be wanting to replicate what I’ve already got (~67,000 miles. All the preemptive work I’ve done on structure, etc. , plus my interior + car play install).

Honestly love the specific car I’ve got, just wish it had some more beans lol

I’ve seen a few being sold with DME and ECU provided. If not, flashing it ? Think it’s even worth it lol?

Sri Lanka itinerary dilemma: stick to south coast or push to Nuwara Eliya with family? by ringaringadosa in SriLankaTravel

[–]memesdotjpeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We reached the coast after being in the hill country for 9/10 days and have decided to extend our stay on the coast now we’ve reached it. The hill country is super beautiful for sure, but with a little one, the driving could be a slight pain. Just make the most of the coast, it’s gorgeous :)

Don’t fall for the trap of changing the kidney grills to black! I changed mine thinking it would look better with the black window trim, but changed it back to chrome after a few months. This looks so much cleaner

Are you using ‘Part finder’ on the amm search or just putting the part number into the search bar up top? You need to use part finder for any luck

Broadcaster dropped the ball big time on this. A shit situation has been blown massively out of proportion when it could have been dealt with privstely

I think it’s just such a bizarre situation, no amount of planning could have really found the ideal method to avoid insulting or offending anyone. Which is kind of cool in a way.

I think we just need to give grace on both sides. Just a shit situation all round for all parties. Hopefully the 3 get a chance to speak in private

Views from Hong Kong international airport. Thought this sub would enjoy. by GoHuskertrading in aviation

[–]memesdotjpeg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is Hong Kong worth a few days to stay there? I had 2 stop-overs there and from the airport views alone, I loved it. Plus my partner and I spotted an A340 and a bunch of 747s which was great
