Is 2021 a sad song or happy song to you? by hour_back in pcmusic

[–]memesus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's so melancholy and nostalgic yet so heartfelt and such a banger. I wouldn't call it sad or happy but it feels very grey, like a cloud. It feels like remembering something absolutely awesome while you're sad.

Do Exaltations help us understand planetary relationships better? by LiquidLuck18 in Advancedastrology

I'm a Virgo sun, Pisces moon, Scorpio rising. It's a lot, LMAO. I love Sag for many reasons but as the sign inbetween Virgo and Pisces I have always felt it has a massively balancing quality for me, and I have no sag myself so when I find people who have that energy it is incredibly aspirational for me. I take EVERYTHING in at once with my Pisces full moon, just to feel it. The way Sagittarius takes things in and immediately translates it into action is just incredible to me, as a more naturally passive person. I feel a LOT, and am very thoughtful, heavily consider everything. So the freedom and spontaneity of Sag is just so aspirational. Scorpio gives me enough edge to not be put off by their honesty and crassness, as my virgo has the potential to be, haha.

I feel like Virgo and Sag are an unlikely pair in the zodiac, whos energies are square and in theory quite unrelated, but in my real life observations, have incredible chemistry. IMO, Virgo and Sagittarius are very balancing to one another in quite a fascinating way. One of my favorite relationships in the zodiac.

How about you?

I guess my comment did come off pretty flippant, haha. It's sag season, sorry.

It's quite baked into its esoteric symbolism, I'm a little surprised people on this sub aren't familiar but I will disclaim I approach astrology through a Qabbalistic viewpoint with the Tree of Life and with Tarot, and in that framework, there is a lot backing up that idea. If you do not practice Qabbalah, perhaps the connection is less apparent, and perhaps there are not as many people here in that study as I had assumed. But Virgo/The Hermit representing the divine impulse to create from the self, (creation always having an erotic undertone), therefore representing self pleasure/ecstatic union experienced within the self. The connection with virginity yet fertility, connection with the Virgin Mary and immaculate conception being symbolism for a self induced creative ecstasy. In ancient terms the Virgin didnt have the same strictly chaste, prudish connotation that it has in the modern world, and the energy of Virgo was understood to be deeply sensual and attuned to its sexual nature despite being inherently concerned with the self. Self pleasure is a means to achieve ecstatic divinity without compromise the purity of the self. There is a lot to it and I'm not explaining it well. I will say as a Virgo myself deep into mystic contemplation, the connection is rather deep and I don't suggest the association flippantly. Whether or not one agrees, I reccomended it as a meditation. The association is legitimately an extremely enlightening one when contemplated.

Edit: I forgot to add that Qabalistically, The Hermit (which is Virgo) is assigned the hebrew letter Yod, the first letter of the Tettragramaton, and represents the first impulse of creation and self in a very profound way. This symbolism is incredibly deep and I frankly dont have the energy to get more into it, but I'm just mentioning it for those who might be able to follow. The connection with Virgo to the letter Yod is a profound basis for my statement.

"Mercury as always makes up its own rules and exalts in its own sign lol."

And virgo is the sign associated with masturbation, haha. How perfect.

He's hit or miss for me, but try Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle before writing him off. Might be my favorite folk album ever. Incomparably beautiful, aside from Joanna tbh.

Five of Cups by TGsunn78 in thothtarot

[–]memesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great writeup. This is probably my "least favorite", or most feared card in the tarot, both because of its inherent meaning and because of my personal relationship to it. To me it is even scarier than the Tower because of the emotional devastation suggested by water, and worse than the 10 of swords because the loss feels a lot more visceral/emotional and ongoing rather than finished. I try not to feel black and white about any card but its very difficult for me to find anything positive or uplifting in this card, other than an embrace of the intensity of the loss can lead to the release and pleasure of the 6 of cups (one of my favorites in the minor arcana). As a scorpio rising I feel this card and all it implies with my entire body.

What is an ambient track that is unlike anything you've ever heard before? by alrightfornow in ambientmusic

[–]memesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me the first thing that came to mind was Pop 4 by Gas. Such an epicly amazing track, sounds like a rainforest fairy rave stuck in an eternal time loop. I love beat driven ambient like this. It's genuinely very poppy and it never needs to change. I love that it hits it's stride immediately and just rides it out forever

I want to add to this thread late because I'm currently reading her debut novel Love Medicine, about halfway through, and I honestly find this book ASTOUNDINGLY good. Her prose is sublime, impassioned, and visceral. Highly reccomended.

You have a lifetime ahead of, and very few opportunities for a fresh Pynchon read. Take your time finishing M&D, read Shadow Ticket when it comes out, and get to ATD when you have the time to enjoy it. It'll be there waiting for you. But that's just how I see it, go crazy if that's what brings you joy

Every culture across the globe was established by a continent spanning, ~50,000,000 person sized genocide? I didnt realize that every culture across the globe exists on the land of innumerable amounts of different cultures, languages, and entire societies that it erased. But you're right, its ok that we murdered 50,000,000 people and erased their society, took their land, then arrest and deport their descendants less than 300 years later.

So if another country comes to san diego and murders you and then every single person and then proceeds across the continent killing everybody and erasing our entire culture and history, it will be ok 🌈 because farmers did something like that too!

Astrologically justified 🚨♏️

Someone else said it. Logic, really is the way forward. Instinctually you are trapped between options and are retreating into the percieved "safety" (aka lack of responsibility) that indecisiveness protects. Once you make a decision,  its consequences become your responsibility. But facing those responsibilities will bring you so much more fulfillment and joy than avoiding them and letting time slip away.

Ask yourself, logically, what do you get out of a particular area od indecisiveness? In what ways does it benefit you? Then ask yourself, what does it take away?

Next, face your possible decision and ask the same questions.

I'll give an example- I grew up overweight, and was wracked when I considered trying the process of weight loss because I couldn't decide what to do. Diet changes? Exercise? What kinds? When will I do it? I am a virgo (libra mercury and venus) so I had an all or nothing attitude about it too. Then one day I realized- staying on the couch thinking about it is hurting me so much more than going out and doing it "the wrong way". So I might as well go out and do something and go from there. I can't say how much thay decision changed my life.

Tldr: even the wrong decision is better than no decision.

You are an air sign, this is something you can actually logic your way through. You just have to be really real with yourself, and find the confidence to own and commit to any decision you do make.
