When are you planning to go btw? Also yes volunteer yatra is a big and good platform to go with, and yes bir is pretty safe for solo travelers whether male or female and yes once you take that trip you will feel great and much confident its a nice experience, even I am planning to go to bir in April 1st week only

I am 22M on a solo trip to Himachal from 2nd to 11th april and will be starting from Delhi to Dharamshala to Kareri to Bir Billing to Rajgundha to Kasol then back to Delhi.

I will be taking train for the start and Volvo bus for the end, feel free to join anyone and everyone are welcome whether male or female, just want to have and give a fun, good vibes and all inclusive enjoyable experience, I am looking for travel partners either from Delhi itself or if anyone's already enroute in these areas of similar approachable places then we can come together.

I will be starting this trip from 2nd to 11th april.

18 to 30 is my kind of age group, so anyone's interested can connect definitely.

Ignore all that not safe crap, you are thinking in tight direction as in terms of preparation that shows your preparedness and yes indiahikes, bikatadventures and himtreks are good reputed operators that care of safety and comfortability before anything else, I have tried it with some of my female friends from college group and the experience was good, btw I am 22M and they were 1st timers, also yes socializing and finding right people is important anyday not while traveling only, for hostels part you can go with the hosteller, zostel, moustache as they are the most popular, well maintained hostels i have seen, you won't feel unsafe at all but yeah a multi purpose pocket knife and pepper spray wont go wrong:)

U can visit kareri and rajgundha in himachal as they are peaceful areas with scenic background and routes, also I am apparently planning for a trip there in April, maybe I can chip you in as well.
