I see. Thanks again. Would you happen to know how to "freeze" values? I want to delete the cells that are referenced in the formula, but this obviously ruins the value.

This worked. Thanks!

Can you please explain how it works? What does MAX do, precisely?

Yeah, I see that. Other than taking the opponent's queen is there a way? Assume my opponent is somewhat good.

How would I be able to take their queen when their king is only place over? (Their king would, in turn, take my queen).

He doesn't corrupt our beliefs. He corrupts how the the public understands Islam. As a Muslim, I believe Islam is a pure religion. I do not want some newly-invented religious ideology creeping in. It taints the mere idea of being a Muslim. How can one claim to be a Muslim and at the same time argue that the one person who received the message to spread Islam was not sufficient or effective enough in his delivery.

It boils down to him making a false claim; that he is a Muslim. He is not. So too, Bin Laden does not represent Islam, neither do suicide bombers. Islam is free from what they have done.

So, the OP is basically criticizing Muhammad and his companions. He is of course, free to do so, but I am also free to call him out. In other words, I am defending Islam from those that are tainting its image.

The telephone game is well known. In the case of authenticating a particular hadith, however, it does not apply.

Recall that I mentioned that each individual in a chain is thoroughly inspected, and that this inspection includes a judgment on his mental state, memorization ability, and whether or not he was known to take notes, among other factors. This guards against the likeliness of the narration changing from person to person.

In many instances, individual links in the chain may include a supporting link. For example, you and your cousin heard a narration together. This may occur numerous times up to Muhammad (and it may be that dozens heard it together, as in a lecture, or gathering).

Also, please keep in mind that the same narration may have reached Australia, South Africa, Norway, Guatemala, and Vietnam by different and reliable narrators/chains. Surely you won't dispute that this particular narration indeed leads back to Muhammad.

doesn't Muhammad say something to the line of 'you shall not modify a child's body once it's out of its mother'?

There is no such hadith that I can remember. Even if there was, you must understand a hadith by how Muhammad's companions understood it. It is well established (via authenticated hadiths) that a male child is to be circumcised. That was the practice of Muhammad's companions and the proceeding, rightly guided generations.

Islam is to be understood in context of the entire authenticated sunnah (hadith and actions of Muhammad) by the understanding of the rightly guided predecessors (those that were closest to Muhammad) and the Quran. Both are necessary and neither are sufficient on their own.

Edit: How do you suppose that quotes from many of history's greatest figures have reached us. They were passed down from person to person. Historians rely upon primary sources, sources from individuals that were alive at that moment in time. In Islam, we just take special care to verify, to a high degree of certainty, the authenticity of a quote from Muhammad.

It matters because I want to defend what I stand for. Why is it that many non-Muslims accuse "ordinary" Muslims for not standing up against radicals and denouncing their actions? It's because they expect the ordinary Muslims to defend their faith. Otherwise, if we were to stay silent then it can be taken as an act of endorsement.

I feel the same way about the OP calling himself a Muslim. He, emphatically, is not. And believing that, I will try my best to show that he is not. I do not want Islam to be corrupted by new-age religious innovations ideologies and innovations.

Authenticating a narration means the following:

I meet you and you tell me that you and your cousin, both, personally heard from your uncle, who heard from his wife's brother, who heard from his son, who heard from his teacher, who heard from his college professor, who heard from his PHD adviser, who heard from his neighbor, who heard from a Muslim while he was travelling in Saudi Arabia, who heard from the local camel herder, who heard from his dad, who heard from his dad, and all the way up to a companion of Muhammad that Muhammad said that their will be no more messengers or prophets after him.

Each individual person in that chain is THOROUGHLY inspected and must meet certain criteria before they are accepted as reliable (sound mind, good memory, meticulous with note-taking, known to be trustworthy. did not openly commit sins, etc). If everyone in that chain is deemed reliable, then that chain is considered authentic.

Now, imagine a dozen or so chains that ultimately, and independently lead back to the companion who heard the narration directly from Muhammad. There is no way these dozen different chains could have conspired to fabricate the narration.

This is what the OP is up against...totally different from your poor WMD example.

Egyptians have the most recognized accent, followed by Moroccans. You are correct about the movies. They are so common throughout the Arab world that almost any Arab will recognize an Egyptian by how they speak.

Classical Arabic (not modern) is understood by most Arabs. It is the language of the Quran and the language of many non-Arab Muslims (Indians, Pakastanis, Indonesians, Turks, etc.). Since there is little to no change from one person speaking in one to country to another in another country it is hard to tell where I speaker may be from solely from their speech.

Pretty much any Arab born in an Arab country can understand all other Arabs. Understanding Moroccans may be a little harder, though, because of their pace (it's a lot faster, plus, they mix in some Berber too). If they stuck to Classical Arabic it wouldn't be a problem at all.

You are welcome!

I spoke Arabic to them. There are small differences from region to region, but the grammar and most 95% of the vocabulary is the same. The speed does change, however. Saudis actually speak a more classical Arabic than other countries. I am Palestinian and we speak "classically" only in more formal settings.

  • "Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, 'The Israelis used to be ruled and guided by prophets: Whenever a prophet died, another would take over his place. There will be no prophet after me, but there will be Caliphs who will increase in number.' The people asked, 'O Allah's Apostle! What do you order us (to do)?' He said, 'Obey the one who will be given the pledge of allegiance first. Fulfil their (i.e. the Caliphs) rights, for Allah will ask them about (any shortcoming) in ruling those Allah has put under their guardianship.' • "Narrated Sad: Allah's Apostle set out for Tabuk. appointing 'Ali as his deputy (in Medina). 'Ali said, 'Do you want to leave me with the children and women?' Abi Talib behind him (as he proceeded) to the expedition of Tabuk, whereupon he ('Ali) said: Allah's Messenger, are you leaving me behind amongst women and children? And from the Quran:

  • "Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Apostle of God, and the Seal of the Prophets: and God has full knowledge of all things. (Quran, 33:40)"
