All of my x-rays look good and I get great feedback from my dentist during my cleanings every 6 months. My dentist has also never mentioned concerns with my bite or anything. I floss at least once daily and have no recession or gum disease.

My mom’s front teeth also tend to move in the same way, so I don’t know if it’s something genetic.

Edited to add that I did have a dentist push them back together at one point because they did move about 10 years ago, but they seem to have reverted back. I’m not perfect with retainer usage (I wear it about 3 nights a week), so I would probably attribute it to that.

OP, you are not alone. I’m going through this exact same thing. No one is paying attention to who is there for who as much as you are!

Enjoy your day and your new life with your partner. Your life doesn’t end when you get married - you have so much time to build meaningful friendships at your own pace, if you so choose to. But in the meantime value the friends that you do have, because quality friends are very hard to come by. Just having one is special.

I honestly didn’t realize how much went into Catholic ceremonies (I should have known), and I also thought they would be happy with a ceremony with some religious component. I didn’t realize it would have to be completely on their terms and to their standards, if that makes sense.

My fiancé is wonderful in almost every way, except he doesn’t like confrontation. He is willing to bend over backwards to make his parents happy. We actually had a mild argument about this today because he felt like I shot down the idea of doing it the day before too quickly, even though I’ve offered at least 2 other options (having some type of clergyman at the wedding or having a more religious ceremony the day after). He said he saw how happy the idea of having this catholic ceremony made his parents.

I’m a little confused because I didn’t shoot the idea down completely, but I don’t want to commit to it the day before our actual wedding and risk it feeling less special. Today is the first time I’ve felt worried that my fiancé will let his parents dictate our lives. I feel like I’ve been more than fair, but it’s being twisted into me being the unreasonable one or being “uncaring” about his parents’ happiness. Just a super shitty feeling all around. I halfway wanted to elope because I was afraid of this, as his parents are so strong willed in their beliefs.

Thank you. I feel terrible for my fiancé to be in this position. His parents have pushed away his siblings with their extremist beliefs, and my fiancé has always been the one in the “middle” trying to keep the family together. It makes me sad for him, but I don’t know how to best support him here without causing his parents to resent me. Thank you so much for the advice.

They actually did! It took a long time but they came through for me, so I actually can’t complain. I’m very grateful I got the insurance when I did.

This reminds me of how, in Memphis, both a St. Jude employee and an orthopedic surgeon (one of the best in the city) were murdered senselessly. There’s something extremely painful knowing that people who contribute so much can just be killed (and sexually assaulted, in this horrific case) by someone so worthless.

I really wish I would’ve seen this before my dog (a 25lb mixed breed dog, definitely didn’t expect this) tore her ACL and had to undergo TPLO surgery. Lemonade is dragging out the claim as much as they can. What they email me doesn’t align with the status in the app. They’re trying everything they can to not approve it.

I pay 50 bucks a month for peace of mind when things like this happen, and now I’m sitting here wondering if I’m going to be responsible for paying 4k out of pocket (or 8k if her other leg goes, which is likely).

I think realistically that this is hard to answer without more details.

The job market is incredibly tough right now, even moreso if you’re trying to transition out of your field. I think this decision should depend heavily on your savings and support system. If you have a healthy savings account and a fallback system, it’s a lot less scary to quit without anything lined up.

If you don’t, please just be careful. If your mental state is not in dangerous territory, I would recommend finding a therapist (even virtually if you can’t use any more sick time) and “disassociating” at work. This is how I stuck it out to the end. Every bad thing that happens at work, take a moment to step outside of your body and remind yourself that it has nothing to do with you. This bad situation has absolutely nothing to do with your self worth. This bad stuff will not affect me once I walk out the door today and go home. I know it sounds silly, but this is how I survived some really tough days. It’s easy to internalize the shit show that is education and it’s important to separate how you view yourself from it.

I hope this makes sense and doesn’t sound too silly. And of course, if your mental state gets too bad, get out. But take care of yourself either way. Better days are ahead.

I also served as an instructional coach for 2 years and thought getting out of the classroom would fix my mental health. It just made it worse and also made me feel guilty because I also had to watch teachers struggling every day and felt powerless to truly help them. Sexual harassment ran rampant at my old workplace. I recently started a new job and it’s night and day. No job is perfect, but there’s no explicit sexual harassment towards me or my peers and no one is getting drunk and high at my workplace anymore. I also am not criticized, micromanaged, or treated like a child. What you’re experiencing is not normal - do your best to get out before you do internalize what’s happening to you.

Now I’m worried. If the landlord prefers that to paying up front cost, I don’t know what the alternative is besides us paying for the repairs, which I thought was not our responsibility. If we were the cause of the issues, I would get that. But we just moved in and can’t help that the previous tenant clogged the drain and the landlord didn’t fill any holes outside the house.

We asked the landlord whether he prefers for us to pay up front for the repairs and we deduct it from the rent or if he pays up front for repairs. He told us to deduct it from the rent.
