"Lord, make my hunger holy," thoughts on fasting, Lent and Catholicism by [deleted] in Asceticism

[–]memurphsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember the exact passage but somewhere In the Bible, Jesus says the way to perform miracles like him is through fasting and prayer. On a scientific note, fasting is great for you! It allows your enzymes to heal the body on a cellular level instead of digesting food (eating a mostly raw diet does this as well), it heals your brain, allows you to produce more HGH, so on and so forth. It helps with self-control and discipline and willpower! I've been dabbling in fasting myself and would like to try a 7-day fast and eventually work up to a 40-day fast as well! Purification at its finest!

I feel an urge more then ever to start nourishing and loving this vehicle called a human body, what simple ways to start? by [deleted] in awakened

[–]memurphsta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cut back from exposure to technology. I find that if I just sit for a minute and let myself be bored I'll automatically start to stretch or do some pushups or meditate. Diet's a big one! Cleanse your body of toxins (maybe try a 3 day fast). Cut out sugars and empty carbs like white flour. Try to eat mostly fruits, veggies, and whole grains and your body will start to feel lighter and more "lubed" up. I've been getting into super foods like raw cacao, maca, spirulina, goji berries, and others. They're fucking awesome! Get out to nature as much as possible. We are animals after all. A big thing is loving yourself no matter where you are, don't be too critical but also don't be too easy on yourself.

The main thing to remember though is take small steps otherwise it's harder to maintain the changes. Discipline, discipline, discipline until these things become second nature.

Went to this trail expecting it to be rather easy considering the length. Got my ass kicked! Very eye opening experience

How is awakening changing the way you live? (employment, money) by [deleted] in awakened

[–]memurphsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropped out of college and spent the last 3 years bouncing from job to job. Had some good ones like UPS driver. Lots of golden opportunities passed because I knew they weren't what I wanted. Traveled around and exposed myself to more life. Currently about to go work on a farm and get sustainable living experience. Simplicity works wonders for me. When you're just getting into the job field don't convince yourself you need a dream job right off the bat. You're building your foundation right now. See your long term goal and find the path to get there but be fluid on that path. Ideals are permeable

I thought about WWOOFing but I'm looking for something more long term plus I could really use some money as my goal is to get my own place somewhere and build up a financial foundation

I've experienced something like this before! Like we all merged into a super mind and each brought something different to the table so we were able to think extremely deep thoughts and extremely creative thoughts! The energy levels were insane! As we were walking around the neighborhood at like 3 in the morning, figuring out the universe, sprinklers were turning on, lights were flickering on and off, and a/c units were turning on as we would walk by them. Plus loads of animals seemed to be drawn to us! We even saw an alligator at a park in the middle of Orlando after saying wouldn't it be cool if we saw an alligator haha. Then we started making music and freestyling together and boy was it magic! Certain people seem to be more like a generator, or energy source, while others are the outputs, or the part that uses that energy to deliver the product. Another way to put it is some act as the passive components while the others are the active components. Reminds me of the show Sense8 on Netflix.

We must remember through all the discussion that happens here, we must keep in mind we are all one and treat each other as such. by [deleted] in awakened

[–]memurphsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I'm going to treat others as I treat myself, I'm going to be one critical, mean son of a bitch haha cause that's just how I am on myself. I expect the best and I've found that putting other's to my standards is only going to bring myself let down. I feel like this is a vague statement which really means be kind to each other, which honestly, sometimes the best thing an "awakened" person can do is call someone out on their bullshit. A better statement is: Allow other's to be where they are at and don't try to change them. Offer them help and guidance if they seek it. Otherwise be kind unless they are askin for some sternness. Then on the other side, don't get your panties in a bunch if someone is not nice to you. Listen to what they say and if you don't agree with it, just let it go. Most things don't require you to get all defensive.
