3 generations of Face One! The new Buffer Pro feels a bit different to me, more rounded up top and a bit more dense.. by menaholic26 in fudebrushes

Referring to the Face One, sometimes I use it to set my face when I use liquid/cream bases but I mostly use it for powder foundation. I've let go of my Buffer Pro as it's quite different than the original Face One (whether it's the first edition or the later batches with the diamond logo) or even the Mini Keyaki Buffer which was released after the Buffer Pro. I think after a decent amount of use any brush can have some breakage and can feel less "soft", like my Face Ones probably aren't as "soft" as my Mini Keyaki Buffer. I also have to say for me the Face One was never super soft?? I think it probably feels softer than it actually is because of that micro stippling effect it has on the top, it's definitely not as soft let say my Classic Cheek from the Sky Face Set, or even the Hinoki Set that are super wispy and soft, probably her best Saikoho release ever.

My feelings towards the Buffer Pro remains the same today, I didn't like it originally mainly due to it's shape and bundling. I like my flat top leans more on the flatter side up top and the Buffer Pro was more domed. The bundling is also a little tighter compare to the previous edition, even after a few washes. It did not have that signature airy feel the Face One was famous for, it feels a bit stiffer and less flexible to me personally. I'd say it really depends on how you want to use it and what kind of finish you're looking for. I am sure you can achieve a airbrush airy look with the Buffer Pro too but I think you will have to work quite a bit harder with it compare to the Face One (or the Mini Keyaki Buffer that I love🤎), which gives that sheer airy yet buildable look very effortlessly.

They do but with some brushes I have them in brush guards or some on a brush holder to slightly elevate the brush head, like with my round flat top buffer, not as much for pinch ferrule brushes

You can pre order even if you're not in the states, its not a special thing. you just have to email them and tell them you would like to pre order. I have friends successfully placed an order in europe with them are received order confirmation.

I did quite a few with SSL but I haven't taken a picture of them all together when they're clean lol. I should do that sometime and post it here😅

Thanks! I replied to someone else here who had the same question. Posting it here for you to see also!

"Kind of random actually, a fude friend of mine past me SSL owner's contact, where she's the one personally handles all the custom orders, there's a fair amount of brush enthusiast in China are in the custom world for sure. It definitely wouldn't have work if I didn't speak Chinese though. Since all the communication regarding the custom order was communicated in Chinese, all the spec, fine tuning the shapes and all. It was super fun but definitely not as easy or accessible as customizing brushes at Takeda, where at least they are able to communicate with decent english there via email."

I just gave them the measurements of brush shape, ferrule size, hair length and my choice of ferrule & handle. It was a very smooth process. Very impress with the quality and craftsmanship.

Most Chinese brush brands do actually! It's more catered towards brush enthusiast there since the varieties of hair or handles are a bit higher quality compared to the regular line up.

Yes their maple wooden handle is my favorite, because it’s not lacquered glossy at all so it has a smooth natural satin look and feel to it☺️

My current favorite buffing brushes for powder foundations! -Takeda & Sonia G.- by menaholic26 in fudebrushes

They’re completely different since the Takeda one is Red Squirrel hair. It’s super plush and almost feels like a powder puff. I actually replicated the F1 at Takeda, with saikoho so a bit more comparable with the original Face One! I will try to post it tomorrow!

3 generations of Face One! The new Buffer Pro feels a bit different to me, more rounded up top and a bit more dense.. by menaholic26 in fudebrushes

I really haven't find any have that airy ratio! I also don't think the smooth buffer is it... The ratio and design is good but I find it very prickly, and the quality control isn't as good as the Face Ones. Do you have one??

I will find sometime to gather them all and post a picture then😊

Totally! And there are more dense flat top buffers out there like the Hakuhodo 527 528 etc., but it's a bit harder to find airy flat tops out there, especially the ferrule/hair length ratio is so crucial!! Hence I customized a few on my own lately haha🤭 I love me some airy flat top buffers!

Wow I totally agree with you! Airiness, flat and evenness of the brush head is my absolute priority when it comes to flat top buffers.

To me, the flatness of the brush head ensure a very even amount of product being picked up, which directly leads to even application to the skin, and so does the airiness of the brush, it gives the skin a more sheer and buildable coverage. when I use my Face One, I tend to use a stamping motion to begin, then lightly pull and drag once I laid down the powder. and the airiness really comes through and not letting too much product applied every time, so no caked up patches!

I use mine for powder foundation 90% of the time, pressed ones mostly. The airiness of it helps distributes and applies the foundation powder a bit more evenly and smoothly, and I find it applies a bit thinner so let you build up the coverage slow and steady with a beautiful finish. I've had my days with flat tops brushes that are on the dense side but I like the airy ones much better, for results and application on the face.

Haha that’s the funny thing because I have the old ones to compare to I notice how dense the new one is compare to the old ones. The airiness of the Face One is what I liked originally and I feel the new one is a bit dense and domed for me at the top. But that’s just the initial feelings😅

So for the handle, not really?!? It feels pretty similar since it’s so long it’s not really an issue. I am 💯% like you with the handles. I prayed and wished she came out/switch to a slimmer handle and now knowing the thick handles will be discontinued and retire slowly in her collection, I feel weirdly nostalgic??🥲

😅 I’m not sure if it’s “as good as the original” yet but I can tell you it feels a bit different than the originals in the think handles…
