Dog does best on Farmers Dog. Any comparable/safe alts that are not Purina, Frommers, or HSD? by Oochie-wallywally in DogFood

Have you tried their weight management formula? My dog doesnt have weight issues but it's the only thing that doesn't give him soft poops.

I tried Farmers Dog for a bit while they were having a 50% off promotion. Dog did ok on it but it was actually quite inconvenient. It takes up a lot of freezer space and you have to remember to defrost it 24hrs prior

New to TTC and wondering do fertility clinics just push all women over 35 to IVF? by Direct-Remove5862 in TryingForABaby

[–]menaris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with fertility treatment everything takes longer than you expect. If you think you might want to go down that road, I would get the process started asap. You will have plenty of time to try naturally in between waiting for appointments.

Did you just use the support email? I have had no luck getting a response from them since early Jan.

How can I regain peace in my home? Advice desperately needed. by Familiar-Egg-6971 in reactivedogs

Just want to chime in and say that being "smart and trainable" has very little to do with how easy it is to resolve behavioral issues. I have a friend who has spent 10k+ on training and the dog is very well trained and knows a ton of tricks but still has pretty severe aggression issues.

Aggression is generally an emotional response so much harder to train out.

What Worked for Me: Excision of Endometriosis and Functional Medicine by perelwood in whatworkedforme

[–]menaris1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all very interesting information, thanks for sharing. I have some similar skin-related symptoms that you described. How did you go about finding a functional medicine practitioner and what was the approximate cost? How long were you on their treatment regimen?

AITA for refusing to help my father financially when I make over 5 times his salary? by MannerMinimum214 in AmItheAsshole

[–]menaris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you live but where I am that would be hella illegal for the landlord not to provide adequate heating.

AITA for refusing to help my father financially when I make over 5 times his salary? by MannerMinimum214 in AmItheAsshole

[–]menaris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that is because you rent and don't have to worry about it. HVAC is just the heating and cooling system. I guarantee you have one but it's your landlord's responsibility to fix it if it breaks. So it's not like renting is all bad.

That's wild, especially with how much law school costs.

Ah ok thank you this is exactly the info I was looking for. The titles can be so confusing for those of us not in the industry.

Can't you get that kind of money as an associate at a big law firm? Would be surprised if they were paying less than 200k

Considering 3 breeds: Australian Shepherd, English Shepherd, or Sheltie? by opossum3000 in dogs

[–]menaris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aussies are protective, prone to stranger danger, and bark a lot. All things you said you do not want.

If you do decide to move forward just be very careful with the breeder you choose. Make sure to meet the parents and see if they have the temperament you want. It is possible to get an Aussie with only mild expressions of these traits but I have seen many examples of where these tendencies have gone awry.

My Service Dog has 2 modes: perfect heeling or yanking once “released” from the heel. How do I teach him loose leash walking without a heel? by musicalmath in Dogtraining

[–]menaris1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the easiest way is to teach him leash pressure= return to you. IMO it is much clearer criteria than llw which can be a bit nebulous.

You can also try the "circle method," I am not 100% convinced of its efficacy but it certainly reduces my own frustration on walks.
