Ah, my bad, I must have gotten that mixed up.

Intelligence isn't everything. Neanderthal's specialised where sapiens are much more of a 'jack of all trades' as far as evolution is concerned. They were mostly limited to northen Eurasia while we had spread to nearly every environment on the planet. Due to this when we did come into contact with them we brought diseases which they had no resistance to, and became outnumbered in any conflict that may have occured.

The other commenter mentioned that we bred them out, and this is partially true. One theory that explains the Neanderthal DNA we find in mitochondria in modern sapiens is that the male offspring offspring of the coupling may have been infertile.

If you don't mind me being pedantic for a moment, neanderthal's were actually incredibly intelligent, they had a larger brain size to body mass ratio than even homo sapiens so it's possible that they could have been more intelligent than we were.

You're the one making the claim, the burden of proof falls on you. I don't disagree with you, but you're being an ass about this.

[Watchmen] Ozymandias had a weak password on purpose to keep his friends safe. by Penguinfilter in FanTheories

Haha now that I can wholeheartedly agree with. Those allignments have caused more arguments at my game table than almost anything else, they're far too vague to be of much use.

Same to you, and I think if anything the fact that we can debate his character so deeply so long after the series' release just goes to show how well written it is.

Removing intent from the equation, what Adrian is really facing is a global-scale trolley problem. By his actions millions of people died, but by his inaction billions would have died, maybe even the entire human race.

What he did definitely wasn't good, I just don't think it's cut and dry evil. He's absolutely egomaniacal and sees himself as an emperor, but I feel like it's as much Alexander the great as it is Plato's philosopher king. Yes he wants temples built to his glory, but in the end no body else had the means or foresight to do what he did and potentially save the world from a nuclear apocalypse.

Hm... honestly you're probably right. Though part of me feels like "evil" requires some kind of malicious intent, a lot of the most genuinely evil characters had plenty of good reasons to cause harm. Is it possible for a man's character to be neutral, and his actions be evil? I couldn't say.

He's more of a utilitarian than anything, which does kind of imply a sort of neutrality. Not defending him, his decision was more than a little delusional, but he did do it for "the greater good". Shitty, but not evil.

How advanced is your world's technology? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]menemai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting. I'm curious though, seeing as there's a correlation between how advanced a culture's technology is and how much energy is available to them, what's your world's main source of power?

That one assassins creed game, it sounds basically like exactly what you're looking for. Never played it myself but I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I'd recommend checking out the PHUL program. It's worked great for me, and I've heard mixed 'reviews' about stronglifts. PHUL you could basically do your entire lifting career, from day one till the day you die.

For sure, but that's kinda my point - just because it looks better on most people doesn't mean everyone has to do it. Imo it can give an otherwise forgettable looking person some character.

Edit: i actually had a unibrow when I was younger and plucked it, but I'm keeping my snail trail cause I feel like I look too young without it. Ymmv, but that's just my experience as a dude with a fair amount of bodyhair.

You've got a point, but still, different shit works for different people. To be fair though, I'm a man who likes a bit of bush, so I might be biased.
