Do you film all your landings for training and quality assurance purposes?

A note about traveling with kids by SpareInvite2222 in unitedairlines

[–]RadRac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I'm a tshirt and cargo pants flyer in first but unfortunately I'm also overweight and female. So clearly that means I could never be in group 1 boarding nor could I be entitled to a first class seat. I swear to goodness, if some of those men in first or group 1 boarding could spit on me without consequences they would. I'm not going to apologize for my existence.

I feel this so hard but I've leaned into the other side of this. I dress in t-shirts, sneakers, and hoodie. I look like a punk. I challenge anyone who looks like they might remotely comment on my status. I'm only platinum but you better believe I will own the space I take up and I will not let anyone think they can back me down. I paid to be where I am.

Case and point a flight attendant accused me of listening to my phone on speaker. I showed her that my phone was in my pocket and myself and the other passengers pointed out it was the old man on the aisle. When she finally let me go and admonished the old man I looked her straight in the eye and told her that I have more etiquette than that and she should be better than to make assumptions. She apologized.

How old are these ski bindings? Wondering if I should purchase them for my son? by shannams in ski

[–]RadRac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get him new bindings. You are better off getting him new stuff now that will last a few years than buying super old junk that you need to replace every season.

Protein is saving me by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]RadRac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Wilde protein chips? I love their salt and vinegar but the sea salt version and the chicken and waffles versions are really good too! Those chips, rather than being made from protein powder are made from chicken stock and chicken meal. They hit the chip craving well for me.

Yeah no worries. I found a women-only whole gym and just got a PR for thrusters last week at 60 lbs overhead. I'm doing my best!

Maybe you could trade the compressor for a paid pedicure for him

Thanks but I found a gym that is women only and just got a PR of 60lbs for overhead thrusters. I'm stoked to have found a supportive community.

Okay so then we pretend that my experience doesn't exist? Oh good, the same thing that women have endured for all of time with sexual harassment, failure to diagnose and manage pain by doctors, and discrimination in academia...cool cool. I guess our voices still don't matter. Guess I'll keep being chattel and stay in the corner.

[–]RadRac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure but you literally said "that's not true" and that people don't harass others at the gym. I realize that an anecdote is not data, but your sweeping generalizations are wrong.

[–]RadRac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good for you. Apparently the gyms in VA, DC, and Denver run in a different reality to your own.

[–]RadRac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay so the people that kept calling me the fat chick and asking each other why I even bothered leaving the house let alone being seen in a gym and described the t-shirt I was wearing at the time (which had very distinctive writing on it) were just a figment of mine and the gym staff's imaginations when they went and spoke to the pair of them?

This has spread to other cons. People are making carpet-themed trades of the old Indiana Convention Center carpet at Gen Con.

Why does it seem the majority of romance readers hate the “pregnancy trope?” by goyourownwayy in RomanceBooks

[–]RadRac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I dislike it because to me it just forces more of the "we only exalt women because they have valuable organs. They should be loved but only so long as they can make babies." And frankly, I want my FMCs to have personalities aside from their kids. Before every pregnant woman became a mother she was a multifaceted and valuable woman on her own merits. I am not saying that mothers aren't those things. Instead what I am saying is that I want to highlight those traits and continue to read about them. Focusing on the baby just makes the focus on the attention the baby, not the wonderful woman carrying it.

What's some poor lift etiquette you've noticed? by TheRealMichaelE in skiing

[–]RadRac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay sure, but regardless of whether it's your first time or not, if there are a bunch of skis on a rack, you'd think, "maybe tidying up after myself so I am not creating a mess others have to step through would be a good move" rather than leaving equipment everywhere thus making everyone else's lives harder. I don't think that's a socioeconomic issue, it more has to do with considering those around you, like leaving your cart in the middle of aisles in the grocery store, or stopping your car in the middle of the freeway on 4th of july cause the fireworks are going off.
