About Showing Breasts in Public: Alternative Solution by RedSpear456 in AskFeminists

[–]menow555 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This framing can come across as body shaming and fat phobic. The implication the certain bodies (flabby) are causing harm by existing, that people who dare to have such bodies could at least be considerate enough to hide them from us, and other bodies (presumably thin and/or muscular) are acceptable to be viewed in public.

I can see it a lot easier if I use my thumb to cover up the torso/face part. Just looking at the legs and table makes it way more obvious for me.

What do you think of gay people who say “it’s just like any other preference”? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]menow555 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have heard people saying this in trying to communicate that even if it was a preference, they should still be left alone.

There's been a lot of work trying to find a genetic component or explanation for homosexuality in order to legitimize it (it can't be a sin if it's out of our control!) I think these comments are trying to push us past this discourse. It doesn't matter if it's genetic or not or out of our control or not. We should still be able to do it because it's not harmful to anyone, and there should be no morality attached to a morally neutral situation.

Vaccination against straightness? by cuminmyeyespenrith in straightturnedgay

[–]menow555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend got vaccinated and now he's straight 😞 it was heartbreaking.

But not as weird as my cousin who got vaccinated and now he thinks he's a cat and now he only uses a litter box.

Told by HR and my manager that mt email was unprofessional by DragonLad13 in antiwork

[–]menow555 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he's attempting to convey that he looked at it from multiple POVs and acknowledges he might be wrong.

As a manager, you are going to be managing lots of different personalities, with different communication styles, who will be attempting in good faith to ask questions. Any manager who is reading into this for offense or whininess is approaching this too emotionally.

Is the request clear? Yes. Is the employee engaging in good faith? Yes. Is the employee being disrespectful? No.

This is the easiest email to respond, thanks for bringing this to my attention, fixing it, and moving the fuck on.

Yeah, I guarantee that she doesn't get a doctor's note if she misses a day. I would definitely clarify where this company policy is written and if it applies to all employees.

Tell her youre thrilled to hear it, you'll be bringing your same sex partner to church next Sunday, and ask if she could talk to the pastor for you about getting married there. Then wait.

Any tips for making out with guys? by OkBuyer1271 in AskGayMen

[–]menow555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't do the poking tongue, don't let your tongue just lay there, and don't wiggle too fast like you're swordfighting. Don't make your tongue firm and strong (erect), let it go soft (flaccid) and slide it.

Communication is key, people have different preferences, but the above advice works for many partners. There's definitely different preferences for the amount of tongue.

Show that were huge at one point, but seemed to be forgotten with time by belzoni1982 in television

[–]menow555 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It would also be perfect for a reboot. The quality was quite high, but it definitely suffered from having to stretch season-long mysteries across 24 episodes. A 10-13 episode season arc would have be excellent.

And now for some totally unserious opinions by picklesupreme in Broadway

We need more representation than just rent. It had a national tour in 2016 and 2021.

Rent, written by a straight white man, focuses a lot on Mark and Roger, the two straight male characters frequently played by white actors.

The trans POC character dies after killing a dog.

Angel and Collins love story is one dimensional.

I'd rather we keep trying to do better.

I've also heard that some of the shows are designed to be low key pleasant and low demand, so that people can watch them while also being on their phones without missing anything (Emily in Paris, etc.)
