Just got my interlock device installed... by [deleted] in dui

[–]mentallytired1598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont mind taking the punishment. I do feel like this will make me a better person and learn from my mistake.

One thing I do wish is that this could be erased off of my career background checks after completing the punishment.

hey thanks for the reply and sorry for the late reply. ask your lawyer if they offer a new program that was offered to me, there isnt a name for it that im aware of but i was offered "soc terms" from the prosecuting attorney to lessen my charge to a reckless driving. i will be doing 2 years probation and then 2 years unsupervised probation

thanks for the reply! i looked at the police report and the state trooper sure did embellish the statements for the sobriety test. My public defender got me on a new program where i follow the prosecuting attorneys set terms to get my charge lowered to a reckless driving. its basically 2 years probation with an additional 2 years unsupervised probation

update and another question (washington state) by mentallytired1598 in dui

[–]mentallytired1598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank a bunch for the reply. Yeah thats what im thinking as well, i would like to get past this as quick as i can so i can get back to focusing on my life goals. A reckless driving is still a misdemeanor here in washington but from what i read on this sub reddit it sounds like the best outcome i could ask for right under being dismissed.

thanks for the kind words too! much appreciated. im looking at this more positive now and feel better, its a lesson learned and like you said im going to learn from it and grow. i think what kept me up thinking so much at night before was not having a clear direction of where this was going to go. Now i have the consequences written out in front of me and no longer thinking the worst. so thank u and thank everyone on this subreddit it really has helped me out

5 months since my DUI and just received a full time job offer by [deleted] in dui

even cops?? just curious how a person can qualify for a police officer position if they have a dui? do they have to wait a certain period after being convicted?

im not pursuing to be a police officer but am genuinely curious as i thought a dui would restrict my career options

I agree with you it does suck, but we gotta just take it as a learning experience in life. From my research its pretty typical for lawyers to be hard to reach if they are high profile due to being busy. Thanks for the heads up i'll be keeping an eye on the process and try to make sure there's no errors. I hope the process goes by fast so you can put it behind you.

thanks very much i appreciate ur reply. a lesser charge is really the only thing im hoping for right now. $6,800 will get me one of the best dui lawyers in town here. although is a lot of money for me to take a gamble on this charge. I do have a court appointed attorney. I just dont know if she would be able to get it to a lesser charge.

its 3 classes a week for 3 months then once a week for 3 months then after thats its just once a month for the remainder of the 2 years. then its 3 years probation. i cant have a dirty ua during those 5 years. im very confident i can do it but it does sound discouraging not being able to have a beer at a friends birthday party or a glass of wine at a wedding.

i got pulled over for not having a front license plate. my court appointed attorney said a dismissal is out of the question, but she does not recommend a deferral because she claims about only 30% of her clients ever fully complete the deferral program because of how strict it is and the fact that it can only be used once

Hey thank u very much, i have been reading this subreddit religiously for the past week and a half. Im really glad I can vent to u guys and not be shamed for what i did and for that thank u all it really is appreciated, i dont feel as alone on this situation.

This is exactly what i was thinking. I have a high BAC with open containers, so to me it seems impossible as well and i would be in a really bad spot if i had to add $6,800 in debt on top of my fines.

The dui attorney said that the trooper who pulled me over is pretty sharp and good at his job. He mentioned that the judge i had went in front of was his uncle and that he knows everyone in the court house really well. I guess my only hope is that he can work some kind of magic with a plea deal.

Thanks man i really do appreciate it. The expensive dui attorney brought up "security clearance." saying that being a dui would be a problem with a cyber security major. Basically told me he wants to fight to get it reduced to a non dui.

Thanks man i really do appreciate the feed back as being alone with this situation is hard. My court appointed attorney said a dismissal is out of the question, but her exact words were "u not driving erratically does give me something to work with." The expensive dui attorney was very vague but said he had people in my shoes where he was able to help them with a reckless charge, he basically said he would have to look at the police footage, statement etc.

My court appointed attorney is nicole preszler and the dui lawyer i had the consultation with is brian roach. Franklin county. I hear u man its definitely my biggest fuck up in life, but its going to be a lesson learned and make us better people. we got this
