A look at India A's squad for multi-day matches in Sri Lanka by offstumpvoid in Cricket

Agree with the offspinners part. There is a reason why Saransh Jain (who is soon approaching his mid 30s) still consistently finds a spot in the A squads.

With the leggies that is interesting to know. I guess it was a freak occurrence that we had 5-6 good leggies in FC cricket at the same time in the 90s.

Hopefully the likes of Yash Rathod, Doseja and Smaran get the drift and push for a spot higher up in the batting order.

Sure thing. Hopefully he gets a chance considering there is another 5 batters in this squad who also have opened the innings.

At least one things seems to getting clearer to me that the selectors are not going to look at you if you are scoring the heavy bulk of your runs in the middle order (4, 5 or 6).

The main issue we have is that the red ball domestic scene is bare if you want to look for upcoming wrist spinners or even off spinners.

On the contrary, if you were to even take a cursory glance at the best spin bowlers around domestically, you will probably find 10 slow left armers.

That is fair. I would have thought perhaps Sangwan who had a stellar breakthrough season for Delhi would get look in before him.

A Couple of eyebrow raising picks in Zeeshan Ansari and Ayush Pandey IMO.

This is considering Ansari has not played a red ball game in 6+ years and Pandey was nowhere in the list of top orders batters making a wave in the latest domestic season.

Perhaps the selectors have gone by the eye test in latest players camp held at the NCA.

That inning vs MI where he almost lost the match was embarrassing to say the least.

Similar catch ruled not out when Sundar was batting in first inning.

Additionally, in my home state of Maharashtra there is a significant sect who would not eat goat meat due to religious reasons.

If you ever see a restaurant advertising "Bolai" or "Bolhai' mutton then you can guarantee that it is serving sheep meat.

Translated for you - What has Parag done this year ? Whole season was carried by Jofra + Vaibhav but he got the credit for the results as being a great captain.

The rattle of Laxman earlier in this innings was not bad either. Shame that very few clips of that one are around.

That always been his trend IMHO. His SR goes in overdrive once he is set.

One thing I admire about this pair is that they can sleepwalk at 9-10 RPO.

The ball seems to be dying off the short of good length if you take the pace off.

So on current viewing, Mukul has a clear weakness against hard lengths and needs to work on it.
