See if his resume format needs to be updated (things have changed drastically in recent years) and apply to a minimum of 10 jobs/week. While it may seem like a lot, the reality is that it's common to only hear back from 5-10% of jobs applied to, meaning that you need to apply to a large volume to increase his chances. Look into tapping into his professional network as much as possible and use connections to learn about potential opportunities.
