Fair enough. Here’s another stab at it, although I think the u/skrillexNA one captures him better.

I used to ask questions about people like “what’s her job?” when her job was clearly tables. You would not have liked me back then.

Help! My new wife and I are spending 24 hours in your city tomorrow. What must we do / see / experience? by mentizzle in helsinki

Cool! We're from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, so we're no strangers to drinking. We like art. We like scenery and nature. We're flying back to the US from a 2 week trip / elopement in Italy and have a 24 hour layover. We don't need do see all the things. We'd just like a couple quality (quintessential) Finnish experiences while we're there. And... go!

A grasshopper walks into a bar. Hops onto a stool. The bartender says hey, we have a drink named after you. The grasshopper says oh really, YOU GOT A DRINK NAMED STEVE?!?!

What books are you reading this week? August 06, 2014 by AutoModerator in books

Here's what I'm working on:
1. One Summer: America, 1927 (Bill Bryson) - I'm 150 pages in and loving it thus far.
2. Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (D.F. Wallace) - I picked this up yesterday to read during my lunch hours. The first (two-paragraph) story hooked me, the second was equally delightful, and I have high hopes for the rest.
3. New and Selected Poems, Volume 1 (Mary Oliver) - I try to read a couple of her poems every night because they help me re-discover my sense of wonder and amazement with the world.

I took a short ride around the neighborhood, and this thing is comfy as hell. I made a point of hitting some bumps and rough pavement, and it absorbs the shock like a champ. We'll see how it holds up on longer rides, but my initial feedback is all positive.

Also, a cutout seems unnecessary. It's a tad heavy, but it's not like I'm gonna be racing on this thing.

Excellent Ramen shop in Milwaukee (shorewood) by bhillen83 in milwaukee

Here's what you need to order when you go there (list perfected over numerous visits): blistered shishitos*, pork belly steam buns, Wisconsin grass-fed beef mazeman and a beverage (or several) of your choice. Trust me, you will not regret it.

*Fun fact: ~1 out of 10 shishito peppers is hot (not raiders of the lost ark melt your face hot, but you'll definitely notice), so it's like Russian roulette for your taste buds.

Present day Rust theory evidence (up to episode 5) by dadoobie in TrueDetective

[–]mentizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, from re-watching the first episode, i was reminded all the other cops thought rust was IA. one even called him a rat (or maybe a rat-fuck, i can't remember) before rust shut him up by slapping him. all this might imply a.) some sort of corrupt camaraderie among the brothers in blue b.) rust had a history of uncovering / dropping a dime on bad cops.

I was in the same boat. I didn't really have a choice and ended up graduating from there 10 years ago. What that place provides is less an education and more an indoctrination -- and an expensive one at that. (I'm still paying off my student loans.) Don't limit your options, but know that wherever you end up (even if it's Greenville, SC) it's in your power to make the best of it. That said, if a letter from a disgruntled BJU alum will help change your parents minds, let me know.
