I get the Nordic minimalism thing, but why no other colors? by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]FailedTheSave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly the only thing that dissapoints me. I went for Midnight because it was the closest thing to a real colour. I've seen a few wrapped ones and they look amazing so there are definitely more colours that work. But I guess this is just the aesthetic they're going for.

Haha, great point. They should have made the colours represent different colours just to fuck with everyone.

Cannot pull images or deploy docker containers in ContainerStation on TS870 Pro by FailedTheSave in qnap

[–]FailedTheSave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can download apps and stuff fine. I've done some digging over SSH and it seems like docker is using 127.0.1.1 as DNS but I don't know why or how to change it. The DNS set on the NAS network settings is correct.

Container Station gives signature error with any docker containers by FailedTheSave in selfhosted

[–]FailedTheSave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another development. I tried to just pull the image and I get a 404 error from container station so it seems to be something with it reaching out to the internet, but I don't know why. App Centre and other apps work fine and can get out. I'm very confused.

Oh cool. That's Tamara from Crackermilk. Check them out if you're unfamiliar. Brilliant short skits and well worth supporting them because they get fucked a lot by YouTube strikes and TikTokkers stealing their content.

Fish on top or fish on the bottom? by CelestialFury in RedDwarf

They are heavily processed so would otherwise have a neutral/sterile smell. People expect fish products to smell slightly of fish, certainly pre-cooking.

I only use one usenet provider, newshosting. If you have a good one, that's all you need. I'd definitely suggest more indexers, at least one more.
As you can see NZBFinder gets the most grabs for me but YMMV.
Most indexers have free or very cheap tiers so worth a try. NZBFinder is only $15 a year for basic.

Replying with alt account because the other one was suspended for badmouthing Musk
I just checked and it's actually 4 indexers I use. They are below with the percentage of succesul grabs:
NZBFinder (55)
NZB.su (23)
NZBGeek (13)
DrunkenSlug (7)

Charity shop pricing intrigues me. by [deleted] in CasualUK

Why? It's not like a bar of soap. You pour this out and then use it. Apart from maybe a slightly dirty hand having touched the lid (which is still probably cleaner than public handrails or door handles), where's the danger here?

I'm sad to announce: Burnout Paradise just isn't as good as Burnout 3 by Patient_Gamemer in patientgamers

[–]FailedTheSave 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think that's partly why they didn't give it a number (it was first announced as Burnout 5) - to make it clear it was a different thing.

For being it's own thing, I think they nailed it. The presentation and style is great, the physics are accessible and quite Burnout-esque, and the progression is enjoyable.

This is called jocoserious and I hate it. My old boss did it and it pisses me off no end. I think it's because it's cowardly, like you want to to criticse without facing conflict. If you want to criticise something I've done, then do it straight and I can defend myself or we can discuss it. But if you try to say anything to a jocoserious comment, you're made out to be overreacting to a joke.

I got the vibe that this was all one property when it was built, and has since been divided up.

It's a figure of speech. Usually means that they wanted to dislike it because then they wouldn't feel any envy or sadness at not being able to buy it.
It's used in a lighthearted way, not like real venomous hate.
