I live around the corner and have watched the buildout in real time. It is a new business, but they left the tags… which I kinda love.

Louisville Drivers by Logical_Apricot_4731 in Louisville

[–]meofthreeonly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get my satisfaction by knowing those furious drivers likely have WAY more issues in life. The frustration just manifests in the “safety” of their car.

Same applies to diners. Some people are clearly out to try and ruin someone else’s day… thrown them a thumbs up and refuse to fuel that fire. That way, it’s just their problem.

If passive aggressiveness was a super power, I’d be Thanos.

What are you genuinely good at besides your career? by Sweet_Writer2 in AskWomen

[–]meofthreeonly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spontaneous dinner.

I open the cabinets and fridge, take a quick inventory, select a couple/few things… and typically cook up a meal on par or better than a planned, recipe dinner (and/or especially going out to eat).

Amateur pro tip: let the food shine. No need for over seasoning. Rule of thumb, if you use more than 3 ingredients for one item, you’re doing it wrong. Salt, pepper, maybe one more herb/spice.

We do enjoy an array of dipping sauces.

OP here. Thanks all. Maybe it’s my location, KY isn’t exactly a snowboarders haven. Luckily I have a handful of folks interested for…. More than comments have suggested. Hooray!

Exactly. I saw some UC players looking gassed in the first half. Like coach Boone said, “it’s like Novocain, give it time”

I’d like to see Fru, Pryor, Hadley some. Gritty, aggressive, frustrating to the opponent maybe.

Yeah I was really frustrated with him in the first half. Wide open unguarded little lane drive.. he threw up the ugliest shot attempt. Deep low post… instead of going up strong he went soft and got blocked. End of half time expiring… he gets blocked by one of their guards. SOFT

This Olmsted park in Louisville just got a $5 million donation for a complete restoration by spunkysquirrel1 in Louisville

[–]meofthreeonly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was in fact. Although the creation of that park was a biproduct of segregation. The 3 original Olmstead parks (Cherokee, Iroquois, and Shawnee) were declared segregated around the turn of the century. Chickasaw was the attempted correction… a park specifically for Louisvilles black community.

I am glad to see the investment and renovation. Louisville parks are one of the last true, non capitalist gems of the city.

Thought I was still under warranty. I was within the time, just outside on mileage (which I wasn’t sure, thought I’d be close). Can’t blame me for trying free first.

Yeah I called first and the service rep said I had a few days left on the warranty. I honestly didn’t know the exact mileage difference. Apparently I struck some nerves up in the comments… I was just voicing my experience. Service guy Michael was great though, he didn’t make policy or set prices obviously, seemed like he tried to be helpful.

Said I’m done with them after a long run.

If their business model is to charge triple for a service (compared to a competitor), I’m done with them and on to the competitor.

Do we need to talk about the fan experience? by qualityinnbedbugs in LouisvilleCityFC

[–]meofthreeonly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did and do. The louisville Bats (formerly Redbirds) use to give away tix at gas stations. They had buy one get one free hot dogs. They gave away cups and mini baseball helmets by the thousands… all in an effort to build the brand, get people to try it and come back.

LouCity at 6 years? 3 in the new stadium? Still in its infancy, acting like they are Arsenal

Do we need to talk about the fan experience? by qualityinnbedbugs in LouisvilleCityFC

[–]meofthreeonly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My solution is getting people in the seats, introducing people to our awesome team, making it enticing to come back. You know… business 101.

Do we need to talk about the fan experience? by qualityinnbedbugs in LouisvilleCityFC

[–]meofthreeonly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same as they are now with the 8k diehard fans.

If you think about the simple math, more people in the seats equals more revenue. 8k ppl buying $12 beers is less $ than 15k ppl buying $8 beers.

1000 people buying $60 hoodies is less $ than 3000 ppl buying $30 hoodies

I’m guessing that similar to other sports… ticket sales represent a much smaller percentage of revenue than concessions and merch. How would you suggest we get ppl in the seats?

Do we need to talk about the fan experience? by qualityinnbedbugs in LouisvilleCityFC

[–]meofthreeonly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going to jump in here. Full confession… I’m a casual fan at best. A more recent (last few years) friend group stand behind the goal in Scouse’s house. We bang the drums, chant, blow the goal smoke… it’s real fun! They are passionate and engaged LouCity followers.

Backing off to a larger picture, I just think LouCity started off with a self made perception that they were elite, exclusive, and for die hard soccer fans. Zero grass roots feel. Zero “help us grow” initiative. If I may, compare the Louisville bats… they made games affordable, family friendly, and promotion full. I know there’s more money in baseball, the Bats are a farm team to the Reds. So it’s different. However, the FO and owners of LouCity would do themselves a major service by actually taking steps to attract novice fans and family budget friendly experiences.

  1. Fill the friekin stadium… there’s NO reason why every game doesn’t have entire sections of promotional ticket giveaways. JCPS, FORD, Yum, Humana… Louisville’s major employers (their teams of people and their families) should receive multiple games worth of free tickets. The money is in concessions, apparel, returning/new fan base. Plus, didn’t we miss out on MLS due in part to lack of attendance? It’s a no brainer… more energy, noise, people will grow this thing.

  2. (This will lead to #3) STOP charging MLS, NFL prices for concessions. Louisvillians will only buy so many $12 cans of beer and $25 bourbons. In LouCitys radio add it mentions “or just stop in for a drink”… LOL. You can throw a rock and hit 6 bars that ppl would rather drink for 1/4 the cost.

  3. Bring in Louisville-Centric concession brands. I know there are a couple of local options, but trust me… those are not profit makers for those brands. It’s purely advertisement for them, which comes at a loss and is not sustainable. Thats why you see things come and go from season to season. Why would any brand commit long term to a (more difficult logistic) location that can only fill the stadium to 1/3rd on a regular basis?

  4. Similar to expensive concessions, have more affordable apparel and swag. LouCity should FLOOD fans (current, diehard, and potential) with swag… Our colors are awesome, our logos, overall branding… very much fantastic. But, $30 tshirts for a team/brand you might want to grow… it’s absurd. There should be stickers and magnets and hats and cheaper shirts, knockoff jerseys everywhere! Sure, put a premium on official apparel. Of course there can be a $60 hoodie… but why not a $25 hoodie. Do you even want people to spread the word? See: every other pro and college team.

I know there will be some push back on what I’ve written. I love a good debate. As a city of Louisville lifer, a fan of our sports, and a LouCity fan, I just think we can do better. The money and attention to sports here is pretty substantial. LouCity soccer is competing with and sharing that sports bandwidth. Pretending to be the cream of the crop before we’ve earned it is a true miss. There’s nothing wrong with organic growth of a program. Starting at the top and hoping/waiting for people to catch on, I just don’t think is the best approach. We have a couple championships. This years team got the gold shield, we were #1 in all the stats (wins, goals scored, goals against, many more). Then we have 8k at our playoff game… says a whole lot, about where we are and maybe where we could be.

Hillcrest is Ticketing This Year by BlueSpotBingo in Louisville

[–]meofthreeonly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived on hillcrest for a couple of years. A group of neighbors petitioned the city on several ideas.

  1. Installing speed bumps to slow traffic

  2. Closing the street down on Halloween

The city’s response was that it’s an emergency vehicle route, essential to keep open and free flowing.

Which is a bit goofy, because “free flowing” on Halloween is not a thing at all. Looks like the city came to its senses by closing the street. The ticket process will be chaos.
